This past year there has been an increase of crime activity in the neighborhood. Thanks to Amy Choy, a meeting with Dee Brown, Coordinator of the St. Louis Safety Group was organized. A Citizen on Patrol training was completed, too. From this seed a small, but MIGHTY group of neighbors started a citizens on patrol group. We are hoping to expand into other areas of the neighborhood in Dee Brown will share how to s and many more tips. To keep our neighborhood safe we need YOU. 2 Page 2 SWGNA FYI Report nuisance behaviors Nuisance behavior can negatively impact residents and property owners of all surrounding properties. Nuisance behavior includes: public drinking; loitering in front yards, sidewalks, or streets; using, distributing, and/or selling illegal drugs; prostitution; playing music or conversing loud enough that your neighbors can hear you; and over crowding. If you witness any of these behaviors call 911. Tell the dispatcher if you are calling from a cell phone, so the call can be documented. State the address of the property where the problem is occurring. Once a sufficient number of calls are recorded on that property, the city can take action. The 2016 Holiday Open House! At the 2016 Holiday Open House both Sandy Grbac & Barbara Beck received honorary awards of streets signs. We thank Sandy and Barbara for tirelessly serving the neighborhood association for well over 20 years! We are GRATEFUL! 3 Upcoming Elections For Board Members Page 3 Our association will have its annual elections for board members, at the April 24, 2017, general membership meeting. Each position is for a term of two years. We seek representation From all geographic areas of our neighborhood. Board members are expected to attend monthly meetings, quarterly neighborhood meetings, various events and be a current dues paid member of SWGNA. If interested, please or mail a letter of interest to the office. The deadline for nomination is March 1st, 2017, to be eligible for the April 24th election. In order to vote in the upcoming election, dues must Be received by March 1, Applications for Membership are on page four of this newsletter. If you do not wish to serve as a board member, please consider volunteering for any of our Committees or a special event. Interested?
