4 PATROL POINTS By: Angelo Ruehmkorff / Secretary~09 arabpatrol@hotmail.com Patrolmen, the Officers of the Arab Patrol would like to give all of you a BIG THANK YOU! Thank you for your increasing participation at our monthly 1st Friday meetings. Thank you for realizing that when you come to parade with us, it makes a difference! Thank you for stepping up and volunteering your time to help the Patrol out at the Fall Festival and the Circus. You see Fellas; it takes dedication from each and every one of us to make this team strong. There is not any one of us that can make it happen. It has to be all of us working together to accomplish the very important goals that we have set before us. Guys, it is absolutely amazing how much you can accomplish when it doesn t matter who gets credit! We want you to know how important YOU are to THE TEAM, and we appreciate all that you do! Ladies Patrol, THANK YOU for all that you do throughout the year! Ladies, your help with our Fall Festival trailer is greatly appreciated! Ladies, THANK YOU for understanding the importance of each and every Patrolman helping out at the circus. For those Ladies that have been out of the loop, the Ladies Patrol also meets on the 1st Friday of every month and is open to the wives, widows and ladies of any Arab Patrolman. Ladies, mark your calendars for the first Friday of each 7:30P.M. The Ladies Patrol would certainly appreciate your input & participation. Fall Festival: We will be setting up the trailer early in the morning on October 4th. We need some help getting the trailer set up and ready to go for the Fall Festival on Oct 5 Oct 10. Gentlemen, we would also like to see some of you that have not been around come down and help man the trailer. The Fall Festival parade will be on October 10th. We need your participation for this parade. We need 20 Patrolmen on the street marching for this parade. Come and join us and show your enthusiasm for our great unit! (Disclaimer: Should the UNLIKELY occur and this OCTOBER Hot Sands reaches you after the Fall Festival is completely over, A BIG THANKS to everyone that came down and helped out!) LOL 76th Annual Hadi Shrine Circus: We need to make sure that all of the Patrolmen give their best effort to get out on the streets and sell circus tickets. If you have not sold or bought the two books of circus tickets that were sent to you, please do so at this time so the Patrol gets credit for the sale. We have a circus ticket selling station set up at the West Side Rural King, if you want to help please e- mail arabpatrol@hotmail.com or call one of the Officers to let us know when you are available. Gentlemen, you do not want to miss helping with the circus this year. Go ahead and mark it on your calendar. Vice President Steve Barnett has a great hospitality trailer planned. Come over to the stadium, pitch in and enjoy the fun and camaraderie that we have at the circus! Membership and recruitment needs to be every Patrolman s top priority. The one day Masters Class and Fall Ceremonial is right around the corner. Statistics show that only 1 in 4 Masons have joined the Shrine. Let s all reach out to our Brothers and let them know how great it is to be a Shriner and Patrolman. Each of us has a responsibility to help recruit new nobles. A Tip of the Fez to Steve & Michele Barnett for hosting the Arab Patrol picnic! We appreciate all that you do for the Patrol and the Shrine. The Arab Patrol sends wishes of good health to all of the Patrolmen and their families. Know that you are always in our thoughts and we hope to see you soon. Commit to be active in your unit! HAVING FUN & HELPING KIDS I AM PROUD TO BE A SHRINER. WINE TASTING WRAP UP!!! By little ole wine lover-me. Wow! What a party! We even had audience participation this year. The crowd was fun and had a good time. There was enough food and chocolate to overdose on and the wine from White Owl Winery and Julie s Dad was great. Even our wine snobs got to enjoy a great wine. This years wine was mainly sweet and we even had a wine we heated up before drinking that was really good. As we enjoyed ourselves the band played on! The De Ja Vue band was great. (I never spell their name right, sorry) I want to thank everyone who helped put this event on, you know who you are, and the Honored Ladies for doing a fantastic job of serving at this event, and as always bringing class to our wine party. Those of you who came know what fun you can have with a little food, chocolate and a lot of wine, those that missed it, tooooo badd. The event couldn t have been put on with the help of a lot of people. Thanks to you all. CIRCUS ~~ CIRCUS Borders Books comes through big for St. Louis Hospital When the headqurters of Borders Books told each store manager that his store could hold a fund raiser for an entire month and pick the recipient of that fund raiser, Andrea Ashby the Sales Manager of the Evansville Store knew exactly who she wanted the proceeds to go to. She went to her General Manager, Bob Farley and told him that her nephew had been a patient at the St. Louis Shriners Hospital for Children, and she wanted to donate all the proceeds to that facility. He agreed. For an entire month each time a customer made a purchase they were given the opportunity to make a cash donation or purchase a book the hospital. Borders took the cash donations each day and purchased books. Many customers chose the book purchase option. The end result, hundreds fo children s books were collected, in fact, twelve boxes of books and one box of toys. At the end of the campaign, a call was made to the Hospital Staff of Hadi Shrine and a van was sent to pick up the books. Captain Ron Collins and Coordinator Frank Nolte went out to Borders and loaded one of the vans, then took them to the Shriners Hospital in St. Louis. What a magnificent gift. Many patients will be able to read books that are appropriate for their age group while at the Shriners Hospital, making their stay more enjoyable. We are extremely grateful for this wonderful gift from Borders Books and for Andrea Ashby thinking of Shriners Hospital for Children. Receiving a big gift of books and toys from Borders Books are Frank Nolte and Ron Collins along with Andrea Ashby, Sales Manager and Bob Farley, General Manager of Borders Books.

6 with a link displayed on all pages NOTICE!!! HADI TEMPLE STATED MEETING TUESDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2009 ~ 7:00 PM Notice is hereby given that the stated meeting of the Hadi Shrine A.A.O.N.M.S. will be held at the Mosque on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 for the purpose of transacting such business as may regularly come before the meeting. Your attention is called to Section 3.1 & 3.3 of Hadi Shrine By- Laws. ARTICLE III SECTION 3.1 MEETINGS and CEREMONIALS A Stated Meeting shall be held on the fourth Tuesday in April, the fourth Tuesday in July, the fourth Tuesday in October and the third Tuesday in December at 7:00 PM the exact hour of all other meetings, including the annual meeting shall be designated by the Potentate. Roger Fuchs, P.P., Recorder John R. Hudson, Potentate Amendment Change Proposal Ill. Sir Roger A. Fuchs, PP and Ill. Sir John R Hudson, Potentate propose the following changes to be made to our by-laws... for the purpose of adding and deleting such language from Hadi Shriners by-laws in order for them to be approved by the Imperial Council. These recommendations came from Warren Upton, Chairman of the Jurisprudence and Laws Committee and have nothing to do with the last two bylaws request that have been made. "The name of this temple is Hadi 'Shriners' not Hadi 'Temple'. Temple is a perfectly proper word to use although it cannot be a part of the proper name. It is defined in Section 101.3(p) of the Imperial Council Bylaws." W. Warren Upton Recorder's Note: All language within our bylaws that may have stated our temple's name to be "Hadi Temple" will be eliminated and replaced with "Hadi Shriners". Our corporation name will remain the same. 3.1 Stated Meetings. A stated meeting shall be held on the fourth Tuesday in April, the fourth Tuesday in July, the fourth Tuesday in October and the third Tuesday in December at 7:00 PM. The exact hour of all other meetings, including an annual meeting, shall be designated by the Potentate. (b) Annual Meeting. The annual meeting shall be held on the first Tuesday after the second Monday in January at 7:00 PM at the location of the Temple. [remove] No Ceremonial Sessions shall be exemplified at the Annual Meeting. Recorder's Note: This is contrary to Imperial Bylaws and to Section 3.2 of Article 3 of our bylaws. 3.3 Special Meetings. Special meetings may be called by the potentate at any time, [remove] and they shall be called upon the written request of twenty-five members of this Temple, but notice must be given to each member stating the business to be considered and no other business than that specified in the call may be transacted. Recorder's Note: There is no provision in Imperial bylaws for this provision although it was included in some copies of the model temple bylaws several years ago. 4.6 Board of Directors. The composition and duties of the board of directors as enumerated in the bylaws of The Imperial Council, Article 27, The board of directors has the following additional duties: (b) Temple Holding Corporation. The board of directors of this temple shall be the board of directors of Hadi Temple Association, Inc.[remove] existing solely as a nonprofit corporation having no purpose other than that of acquiring, owning, selling or otherwise disposing of, and mortgaging real estate, and the erection, maintenance and operation of buildings thereon, for the use of Hadi Temple and its members. Recorder's Note: This is contrary to section of Imperial bylaws regarding Sale of Temple Assets. 5.2 Dues. The annual dues of this temple shall be [remove] one hundred twenty-five dollars and no cents ($125.00) payable in advance by all members on or before the first day of January of each year except life members, Recorder s Note: Removing the dollar amount of our dues from our by-laws doesn t change the amount of our dues, nor does it allow the divan to change the dues without memberships two-thirds majority vote. It simply keeps us from having to amend our bylaws with Tampa. Please note: Imperial Council Bylaws (f) Proposed changes in annual dues must be presented in writing in the form of a resolution at a stated meeting. The resolution must be laid over to the next stated meeting or to a special meeting called for action thereon. If the proposal is adopted by at least two-thirds of the members present and voting, it is approved. 7.3 Finance Advisory Committee. This temple shall have a Finance Advisory Committee. [remove] (11) Recommend the person or firm to be employed as the auditor which person or firm must be a certified public accountant. Recorder's Note: This implies that the Finance Advisory Committee could select the auditor, however that is reserved to the members of the temple. [add] (d) Quorum. Three members of this committee shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business. Recorder's Note: I suggest we add this, as it is included in Imperials model temple bylaws. Roger A. Fuchs, PP, Recorder John R. Hudson, Potentate Nobles and Ladies: We are going to be doing a pictorial directory in the next few months. We need everyone s participation to make our directory complete!! More information will follow but please plan to participate.
