2 OFFICIAL NOTICE Hadi Shriners Stated Meeting Notice & Nomination and Election of Officers TUESDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. Notice is hereby given that the Stated Meeting of Hadi Shriners will be held at the Hadi Temple on Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at 7:00 PM for the purpose of transacting such business as may regularly come before the meeting. Your attention is called to Article III, Sections 3.1 and 3.3 of the Hadi Shriners By-Laws: 3.1 Stated Meetings. A stated meeting shall be held on the fourth Tuesday in April, the fourth Tuesday in July, the fourth Tuesday in October and the third Tuesday in December at 7:00 p.m. The exact hour of all other meetings, including the annual meeting, shall be designated by the potentate. December Meeting. At the December stated meeting the officers and representatives for the year shall be elected. Mike Stader, Potentate Ralph Pigman, Recorder From the Desk of the POTENTATE Mike Stader Greetings Nobles and Ladies, Fall Ceremonial is behind us. We took in 16 new nobles. They were in their first shrine parade with many UCO s. Thank you one and all. I want to especially congratulate the new nobles. This is where it starts and the fun begins. Hopefully you have had time to look over the various UCO s and decide which one you would be interested in joining. Remember, once you join at least one of the UCO s, this is where the fun and friendships will last a lifetime. Thanks to all of those who participated in the Evansville Christmas parade down the newly renovated north main street. We were a little cold but the people of Evansville were there in numbers to warm our spirits. The anticipation on the faces of the young and old of the approaching Shriners made the cold worth while. The hot soups and sandwiches at the after glow at Hadi Temple was much appreciated and a special thanks goes out to David and the Red Fez staff. The 84th Shrine Circus is in the history books now. A major tip of the Fez to those nobles and ladies who stepped up at the last minute to help sell Circus tickets and mom and pop books to make this the great circus that it is. I also wish to thank the Executive Circus committee and the production staff and all that have worked so hard. THANK YOU!! Now, all the Shriners Christmas parties are in full swing. We enjoyed then and hope you and your friends and family did as well! Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you and yours from myself and lovely Lady Cheryl aka Wabbit. Your humble servant, Mike Stader, Potentate 2

6 Arab Patrol Greetings Patrolmen, What a month. We are still looking back at the Westside Nut Club Fall Fest and the Hadi fall ceremonial. We are so pleased for all the patrolmen that were in our patrol room. We want to thank all who were at the Freedom s Veterans Parade and showed what the patrol is all about. One week after we were in the Evansville Christmas Parade. November 23 to the 26, the 84th Hadi Shrine Circus was well staffed by our patrol members as ushers. They did so much to seat people before the lights went down. This year we didn t have a trailer but went back to the Hadi patrol room between shows. A very busy time for all and we still have the Christmas to go. Let us, in our busy time, not forget our sick nobles or the veterans who gave us our freedom that we may do the work of the Shriners Dues must be paid by December 31st To make a payment Call or Mail to PO Box 1 Evansville, IN Make sure you on for the latest info! 7 Legion of Honor Notes Greetings from Hadi Shrine Legion of Honor. As this article is being written, never in my life have I seen Southern Indiana more beautiful than it is right now! The Nobles of Hadi LOH would like to express their thanks and appreciation to Noble Steve and Lady Ann Garrett for the wonderful job with the Wall of Honor at Hadi Shrine this year. We appreciate the hard work and dedication they put into this display. This being the 12th and final month of 2017 means a lot of things. First of all Shrine dues are due along with all the units you may belong to. Please attend to this matter at your earliest convenience Funsters You know you re getting old when Santa starts looking younger. Yes its December and what a busy year the Funsters had with all the events. The circus was great fun. A big tip of the fez to Wes Sniffles Whiteside for his hard work on this year skit, to Doug Cowboy Hodges for serving as our president, and to all the Funsters that got out and clowned at all the events. This shows the public what shrine clowns and shine hospitals do to help all the children. to make the bookkeeping task for the officers of such units much easier. Next, most of the UCOs will have some change in leadership at the end of this month. Please respect the officers of such organizations and cooperate with them to the extent possible. Officers, please fulfill the duties of the office of which you have been elected or appointed, to the best of your ability. Remember, as Masons, we all have taken obligations teaching us how to respect a brother Mason and mankind in general. If you have forgotten these obligations, you may want to study the Masonic Blue Book. Hey Funsters don t forget our Christmas Dinner it s December 8th at the Temple. On a sad note again we lost another great clown, Don Pinkey Wilkey, our prayers go out to his family and friends. Well as I end this year I would like to say HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR. Keep Smiling George Tickles Porth We invite all Shriners who are Veterans to join our unit. We meet the 4th Monday of each month at 7:00 P. M. at Hadi Temple unless otherwise noted. Remember, it is an Honor to belong to the Legion of Honor. 12 I was born July 28, 1961 in Manhattan, NY. I then moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL where I lived until my father passed away when I was just 12 years old. After his passing we moved to Satellite Beach, Fl. I have always been a big kid! At the young age of 14 I began my cooking career at Peg Legs right on the beach. From there I went to a place called 18 Amendment where I was able to work under a great chef. My mother, who passed away when I was just 16 years old, only had two final wishes for me. She wanted me to graduate from high school and get a college degree. I graduated from Satellite Beach High School in After graduation I came to live with my oldest brother in Evansville, IN where I attended ITT Tech and graduated with an associates degree in electronic engineering. I have cooked in Evansville for almost 40 years and have been a kitchen manager for almost 30 years. I have worked in numerous restaurants, hotels and country clubs in the area. I opened Don Mattingly s 23 restaurant and worked there for 5 years as the night kitchen manager. Prior to that I worked about 14 years at the Village Saloon Hadi Red Fez New Kitchen Manager where I cooked, tended bar, bounced, and did pretty much everything. I eventually worked my way up to manager. After working at Don s place, the Hornets Nest had new owners. This is where everything started to happen for me! I wrote the menu, managed the kitchen and worked for them for almost 20 years. That is where I received my reputation. I did 18 Taste of Southern Indiana events for the Heart Association. I was in the Chef s Challenge for the Courier & Press in I was also asked to be in the Steel Chef Competition, but I changed jobs before it took place. I have had many articles in the newspaper as well as the News 4 U Magazine. I have been with my wife for almost 19 years. In my spare time I enjoy playing the drums in a local band. I have really enjoyed working here at Hadi Temple and appreciate everything they do for the kids. I look forward to a long relationship with this organization. Along with bringing some of the finest food in the area, I like making things homemade, from scratch, just like my mom would make. I hope to share it with you! 13 Special Thanks to Those Who Made Hadi Shriners Toy Run a Success by Andy Stewart The Hadi Shriners Toy Run, held on September 24, 2017, was an outstanding success. The toys collected and all proceeds will help provide comfort and joy to the children receiving care and services at the Shriners Hospitals for Children. With the help of every noble, his lady, the Temple, Red Fez staff, friends, generous donors, and the Toy Run participants, we were able to reach our goals with 100% of the funds going directly to Shriners Hospitals for Children. A generous donation of a large tent from Bauer Tent s provided plenty of shade for the unseasonable warm weather. Thanks Mark and Diane Shaw! Dale Thomas did a great job as our emcee. Music was provided by the famous DJ Sam and Andrea Byers. Delicious barbecue chicken and kettle beans were cooked on site by Jeff Townsend, Tony May, Jim Kanzler, John Stephan, Rick Ennis, Dave Hammers, Chad Denton and Ralph Pigman. Thank you to the many ladies who registered participants, offered breakfast items, and stood for hours serving the delicious meal. Thank you to the leaders and their crews who ran the checks along the ride route: Ron Collins & Hospital Staff members, Moose Lewis & Jerry Duncan, Tim Goin, Randy Dierlam & Andy Bullock, and Greg & Julie Steinbeck. Thank you to Tony and Barbara Steurer for doing such a great job organizing and packing the toys for distribution to the hospitals. Chad Denton obtained sturdy boxes, perfect for sending our toys to St. Louis and Cincinnati. Our participants enjoy having annual pictures taken by Rod McDonald and John Nelson. Thanks to Dan Schuler, PP, and Sarah Skaggs for assisting with the photos! Thank you to the DeMolay members for their assistance all day. Special thanks for everyone s exceptional personal commitment and tireless work. Many community businesses and individuals donated food, supplies, money, and manpower.
