4 2018 Chapter Z Directors Paul & Cheryl Engelman Let the riding season begin (finally)!!!! We have lots planned for the month; we will start off the month riding to Missouri Hicks BBQ in Steeleville on May 6th. On Monday May 7 th, we will have our monthly gathering and we will be drawing the winner for the Cross Picture Frame Raffle. On May 12 th, we will ride to Fine Swine BBQ in New Baden, Illinois. This new restaurant for us to try, but we have heard great reviews!!! We will have our monthly dinner ride on May 15th. May 19th will be our Mystery Ride, to whose knows where??? May 20th we will ride to Niehaus Appreciation Days with a stop afterwards to Prairie Town Chicken Dinner. We will end the month at The Missouri District Rally in Branson May 21st - June 2 nd. This is always a great event, where we get to visit with our GWRRA family. If you plan to attend please call as soon as possible to make your hotel reservations. If you would like to ride down with a group, we will the list of day and times groups are leaving as we receive the information. Paul and I will be leaving out on May 25th for a short vacation before the rally; we plan on arriving in Branson May 30 or 31 st. Everyone have a safe Memorial Day!
5 2018 Assistant Chapter Directors Vern & Pat Watts Hello Z Family! Hope this month finds everyone well and ready for riding. We had a few outings this month. On the 14th we had maintenance day at Mark and Sharon Meyers. Several bikes got some work done. The Z ladies got a nice lunch together and we all enjoyed the afternoon eating visiting and cheering on the Cardinal game in the Meyers great party room we had 25 members attend. On the 17th we had our monthly dinner ride to Main Street Café we had 29 Z members and 2 grandbabies attend. It's always a nice time when we all get together to visit and share a meal and friendship. On the 21st. we went to Twin City Honda for the blessing of the bikes. We had 12 members present. We are always glad when members are able to come on the outings. 6 Our Motto... Share the Road! Our Mission... To Facilitate A Reduction In Motorcycle Crashes With Other Motor Vehicles. Mark & Sharon Meyer Motorcycle Awareness 2018 Couple of the Year We are so close to our season for riding. I can smell the fresh cut grass, cow manure, chicken coops, hog pens, bbq s, and the smells we encounter when on our bikes. As we have all heard about Dave and Linda Ruegge having their accident, I can say from all of us, please get well soon and we all think the world of you two. On another subject we had maintenance day on April 14th and no surprise had a great time and even did some maintenance. For newcomers for next year maintenance day, Do not lay on garage floor for any reason around these perverts! Of course the weather did not cooperate later in day when it started raining pretty steady. Please remember the cars and trucks on the road can be our enemy when riding. Stay a safe distance away so they can see you. Don t tailgate, and keep your eye on vehicles on side roads getting ready to pull out. Get their attention and even flash your lights to get their attention. Communicate with fellow riders on hazards or possible hazards. We are a tight group and do not want any more of our family hurt! All our thoughts and prayers out to Dave and Linda! Ride Smart and Ride Safe!
