6 See Amid the Winter s Snow! I m crazy about snow! Just ask my family! I love the Christmas song: I m Dreaming of a White Christmas! My favorite Christmas carol in South Africa (where there is no snow at Christmas because it is summer) was See Amid the Winter s Snow! What is it about snow that fascinates me? For one thing, freshly fallen snow looks so pure, unspoiled, pristine, and reminds me of perfect love before it becomes tainted with selfishness, fear, prejudice, greed, pride, hatred, and other destructive qualities. Next, snow usually falls softly and silently (unless there is a heavy snow storm or blizzard). I love to sit on a porch or a deck and listen to the gently falling flakes as they submit to their locations on the earth, on foliage, on trees, on roads, or on buildings and roofs. This says a lot to me about the importance of each person having a humble, quiet submission to God s appointed place to fulfill God s purpose in this life. Just one more thought about snow.it is a great equalizer. Snow covers everything and every place. It defies borders, boundaries, fences, walls, and other forms of segregation. After a snowfall, the earth is leveled: there is no rich or poor, young or old, male or female, black or white, Christian or Moslem all are equally covered with a blanket of snow. It levels all human beings puts us all on the same plain reminding me that God s love in Jesus Christ reaches all people equally. God s love is free and undeserved it is unconditional and wraps all humankind and the entire creation equally. For this Christmas my hope is: Let it snow in Lewisville soon! God bless you as you celebrate the birth of the Christ Child. O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord! Ivan 2015 CONFIRMATION CLASS The 2015 Confirmation Class will be starting in January. Generally, Confirmation Class includes 6 th grade and higher youth. To make sure your youth is on our list, please call the church office, ADVENT PREACHING SERIES AND STUDY Get on board! The biblically-based themes for the remaining Sundays in Advent plus Epiphany Sunday (Jan. 4) are as follows: Dec. 21 Jesus Wish List Jan. 4 By A Different Road
