This morning at 4am, 14 youth and adults went to serve God and the people of San Raimundo, Guatemala. Please be in prayer for these students and adults by name, this week, during your personal quiet time and with your families, as they build 3 homes for 3 homeless Guatemalan families: Amy Speaks, Alexis Speaks, Anna Frye, Derek Roach, Emily Roach, Emma Hayes, Etta Farlow, Hank Rains, Jared Brogdon, John Couch, Ken Criss, Noah Williams, Tommy Criss and William Farlow. 4 HELP BID FAREWELL TO OUR GRADUATES In the hallway outside of the youth room, there are laundry hampers for each high school graduate. As our gift to them, we all have the opportunity between now and Sunday, August 2 nd, to drop off items for them to take to college. Be creative, and shower them with love! Below is a suggested list of items that college students love, for all different kinds of budgets (but items shouldn t be limited to this list): Pens, pencils, paper, notebook, index cards, highlighters, desk accessories, microwavable food/snacks, gift cards/money, laundry detergent, fabric softener, rolls of quarters, toiletries, address book, photo album, extra long sheets, air freshener, 3m strips, something homemade, any pieces of home, quick recipes, first aid kit, devotional, flash drive, iron, dvds/cds, alarm clock, extension cord/surge protector, stamps, stationery, personalized items, etc. JOIN US FOR THE MISSION 5K The Walk/Run Challenge group will be participating in the Mission 5K Walk / Run on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at 8 a.m. in downtown Winston-Salem. Proceeds from the event benefit the Winston-Salem Rescue Mission and Mission Feet First. We'll meet at the church on the morning of the race and go as a group. 5 YOUNG ADULTS- Go like us on Facebook! If you re a current college student or are in your 20/30s, you re a part of what we now call, Bridge. The young adult age is proven over and over to be the most awkward and forgotten age, even in the church, so our goal is to bridge the gap in the church and complete our whole body of Christ as one solid unit, giving these folks a firm and active place to grow together. Many young adults struggle to find their place in the church; therefore, we are working to create one of their own! [*Note a change to the schedule:] Enjoy a new perspective each week, as Dr. Peden shares thoughts and experiences in a summer preaching series entitled "Refreshing My Spirit." ECHO NEWS.. º July LAKE LURE/CHIMNEY ROCK TOUR. Join with Clemmons UMC and Bunker Hill UMC senior adults to tour Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. Tour includes boat tour of Lake (where "Dirty Dancing" was filmed), tour and buffet lunch at Lake Lure Inn & Spa, tour of Chimney Rock, and the Flowering Bridge. Continental breakfast and a catered lunch will be included, along with door prizes. More details will follow. June 21: Refreshing My Spirit : Part 1 Recreation June 28: Part 2 Rest *July 5 11:00am Service: A special Patriotic and Missionary service featuring a patriotic hymn sing, prayers for our nation and leaders, and a report/slide show from our missions team that went to Guatemala to assist with a building program. At the 8:30am Service there will be patriotic songs, a patriotic video clip, the Guatemala mission slide show and team members sharing some of their experiences. At both services you are encouraged to wear patriotic attire! Happy Fourth of July to y all! The food and fellowship are great fun, so be sure to include an LUMC evening in your plans. Please remember our 15 guests from UMAR and bring extra food to share. NURSERY VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED!
