3 C h u r c h L i f e U p d a t e s Birth Announcement: Our congratulations to Matt and Brooke Lisk (son and daughter-in-law of Benny and Pam Lisk) who welcomed their new baby boy Hudson James Lisk on September 12 at 7:28 in the evening. Hudson James weighed 5 pounds 13 ounces and was 19.5 inches long. Their address is: 81 Slateford Dr., Clayton NC Thank You From B.Y.W.: A big thanks to all those who brought items for last Sunday s Relay for Life Fundraiser. And a bigger thanks to all who supported our efforts! Because of your generosity, our goal was exceeded. Together with the first bake sale, we have collected $1, Church Business Meeting: Tonight s Church Business Meeting will take place at 5 PM in the Chapel. Among other items, we will be discussing a long-term mission partnership with Belize and a change in our ministry year. Deacons Banquet: All ordained deacons (current and inactive) are invited to attend a banquet on October 6 at 6:30 PM in the fellowship hall. If you can attend please contact Mike Francis by September 21 for a head count. Blood Drive: Co-Ed 4 Sunday School class is sponsoring a blood drive September 25 from 11-3:30 pm. Invitation: B.Y.W. invites all ladies to attend a presentation at First Baptist Church, Rooms of Your Life, by Jean Padgett on September 25 at 7:00 PM. Jean uses a 4-story miniature house in presentations to church groups of all ages across the Southeast. The house demonstrates the concept that our heart is Christ's home. For more information, contact Mary Jane Shelton. Ladies Bible Study: Join our upcoming Sunday Night Women's Bible Study, Looking for the Lovely: Collecting the Moments that Matter, by Annie F. Downs. This study outlines how ordinary people of the Bible found beauty in their dark circumstances and still held on to God's timing. This 7-week study will be led by Carol Lowe in our fellowship hall beginning September 25 from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM. WMU Fall Gathering: On September 26, Salem Fork Baptist Church will host the fall Surry Baptist Association-WMU gathering with Karen Eberdt serving as speaker. Those who would like to ride together, please meet at Calvary at 6 PM. Salem Fork will be providing the evening meal and will need a count of those attending.
