Literal Translation Greek/English Interlinear Overall

Literal Translation Introduction 18) And his disciples reported to John concerning all of these things. 19) And after John called a certain two of his disciples, he sent them to Jesus saying, Are you yourself the One coming, or do we look for another? 20) And after the men had come to Him they said, John the Baptizer sent us to you, saying, Are you yourself the One coming, or do we look for another? 21) And in the same hour He healed many from diseases plagues evil spirits, He granted many blind to see.

Literal Translation 22) And when Jesus answered He said to them, When you go, report to John what things you saw heard; that blind are receiving sight, lame are walking, lepers are being cleansed, deaf are hearing, dead are being raised, poor are being evangelized; 23) blessed is he, whoever should not be offended in me. 24) And after the messengers of John left, He began to say to the crowds concerning John, What have you gone out into the desert to see? A reed being shaken by the wind? 25) But what have you gone out to see? a man having been clothed in soft clothing? Behold the ones being in glorious clothing in luxury are in king s palaces. 26) But what have you gone out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you more than a prophet.

Literal Translation 27) This is concerning whom it has been written, Behold I myself send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you. 28) For I say to you, among those born of women, no one is a greater prophet than John the Baptizer; the least one in the kingdom of God is greater than he. 29) And after all the people the tax collectors had heard, they justified God, having been baptized with the baptism of John; 30) but the Pharisees the lawyers rejected the counsel of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him. 31) And the Lord said, Therefore to what shall I liken the men of this generation, to what are they like? 32) They are like to children, ones sitting in a marketplace, calling to one another, saying, We piped to you you did not dance; we mourned to you you did not weep.

Literal Translation 33) For John the Baptizer has come neither eating bread nor drinking wine you say, He has a demon. 34) The Son of Man has come eating drinking you say, Behold, a man, a glutton wine drinker, a friend of tax collectors sinners. 35) And wisdom was justified from all of her children.
