2 Literal English Translation Proverbs 1:8-9:18 The Proverbs of Solomon: Wisdom Speeches Proverbs 5:1-23 The Instruction Concerning the Persuasiveness of Seduction: The Eighth Speech Proverbs 5:1-6 The Protection from Delusion Proverbs 5:1-2 The Call to Pay Attention 1) My son, pay attention to my wisdom; incline your ear to my understanding; 2) for guarding discretion, and your lips will guard knowledge. Proverbs 5:3-6 The Conduct of the Strange Woman 3) Because the lips of a strange woman drip honey, and her palate is smoother than oil, 4) but afterwards she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-mouthed sword; 5) her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on Sheol, 6) She does not make the path of life level, her tracks wander, she does not know it.

3 Literal English Translation Proverbs 5:7-14 The Price of Immorality Proverbs 5:7-8 The Commands concerning Immorality 7) And now, O sons, listen to me and do not depart from the speeches of my mouth. 8) Remove your way far from her, and do not come near to the door of her house, Proverbs 5:9-11 The Consequences of Immorality 9) so that you will not give your honor to others, and your years to the cruel one; 10) that strangers not be filled with your strength, and your labors be in the house of a foreigner, 11) and you groan in your end, when your flesh and muscle are used up, Proverbs 5:12-14 The Cause of Immorality 12) and say, How I have hated discipline, and my heart despised correction; 13) and I have not heard the voice of my teachers, nor inclined my ear to the ones teaching me. 14) In a little time I had been in every evil thing in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
