The St. Luke Religious Education Program needs an adult babysitter on Wednesday afternoons from 3:15-5:10 pm. This service is provided for children of catechists (usually 3-5 year olds who need assistance, and older elementary age children who do homework etc.). You will have a 7 th grade aide. They will be volunteering in varied ways, including: working with Habitat for Humanity, serving at the Catholic Charities Food Kitchen, helping to begin a food pantry at a local parish, and so much more. Thank you for your financial and spiritual support throughout our preparation for this trip, and please pray for all our participants as they live out Jesus s teaching: to love our neighbors as ourselves. 6 GATHER TOGETHER SUMMER FAITH-FORMATION OPPORTUNITIES Our friends at Ascension Parish invite us to the following gatherings. Each one takes place at 7:30 pm in the Pine Room attached to Ascension School. July 19: Spirituality and the Arts How does human creativity put us in touch with the Creator of all? How do we express the presence of God within us through our artistic endeavors, and how can we perceive the presence of God in the creativity of others. Father John Moulder will lead us in a discussion filled with examples, particularly musical ones. Fr. John Moulder is a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago. He is a guitarist and composer whose music has evolved from an assimilation of various musical traditions. John received his Masters Degree in Music from Northwestern University, where he currently teaches. He also serves as the Cardinal s liaison to the arts community. July 26: Ignatian Meditation Ignatian Meditation is the meditation style developed by St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits, in his Spiritual Exercises. It is a way of praying with the scriptures using the imagination. Jesuit Father Ray Guiao will teach us about this form of prayer and lead us in an experience of it. Fr. Raymond Guiao, SJ, works in formation for the Detroit and Chicago Provinces of the Society of Jesus.
