2 December 11, 2016 St. Kevin R.C. Church Page 2 Dear Friends, Rejoice! Today we light the rose-colored candle of the Advent Wreath as we celebrate the Third Sunday of Advent. This year, because Christmas falls on a Sunday, we still have two full weeks of preparation for our celebration of the Birth of Jesus. The Diocese of Brooklyn is sponsoring the Put Him on Your List campaign. While supplies last, we will distribute buttons this weekend with a Christmas To Do list that includes Go to Church. Please wear the button, and on Wednesday, December 14 th, post pictures of yourself on social media wearing the button with the hash tag: #PutHimOnYourList. Remember, too, that Reconciliation Monday will take place on Monday, December 19 th priests will be available for confession in most churches in New York City from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Here at St. Kevin, we will also expose the Eucharist during those hours to provide an atmosphere of prayer in anticipation of Christmas put that on your list, too! As you know, our Children s Choir and Adult Choir work very hard all year long to enhance our liturgies. Under the direction of Tom Sexton, they share their musical talents with our community. The choirs will perform an Advent Concert next Sunday, December 18 th at 3:00 PM in the church. There is no cost for the concert, but it is certainly a great way to show your appreciation for all their efforts. Please mark your calendar and plan on attending the concert next Sunday. Your generosity at this time of year is really wonderful! There are extra donation envelopes these weeks for Christmas Flowers, Christmas Masses, Retired Religious, Senior Priests, and opportunities to give like Toys for Tots, the Giving Tree, and the Wreath Sales. Many of you participate in the monthly 50/50 raffle, and the Christmas raffle, too. I want to remind you that we will anticipate this month s food collection by one week. Please bring your donations of food NEXT WEEKEND so we can be sure to provide food to the food pantry at St. Gerard Majella in time for Christmas, which is the last Sunday of December. May God reward you abundantly for all your acts of generosity! Looking ahead to the Holyday schedules, even though Christmas and New Year s Day fall on a Sunday, we will NOT have an 8:00 AM Mass on either of those days. Diocesan Assigned Goal:......$96, Pledged as of 12/ $93, $ in Hand as of 12/5.....$91, of Pledges as of 12/ The 2016 Annual Catholic Appeal comes to an end on December 31st. If you have not yet made your pledge to the 2016 ACA, pledge forms are available at the doors of the Church. You can either mail them directly into the diocese or place them in the collection baskets. In order for St. Kevin to reach our diocesan assigned goal all pledges and payments have to reach the Diocesan Office by December 31st. Thank you for your support of St. Kevin Church! Weekly Offerings December 4, $8, The Holy Name Society invites all men of the parish to their Christmas Meeting on Tuesday, December 13th, at 7:00 P.M. in the Academy Cafeteria.
