Yes, we are definitely seeking to do our best to speak out clearly about this issue. Please see Bishop DiMarzio s letter in this week s bulletin for more information about specific ways we are dealing with this very serious matter. I, too, will be joining in the prayer/fasting program that Bishop DiMarzio mentions. Will you join me? I will be attending the General Assembly of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Will you pray for me and my brother Bishops that we can take the action steps that need to be taken? I would be grateful for the prayers. You are always in mine. Parish News We are reminded (in the Order of Christian burial) that in the waters of Baptism we have died with Christ and we rise with Him in new life. During the month of November, we will have our Book of Remembrance placed in front of the Baptismal Font. We invite you to write the names of your loved ones and their names will be remembered at Mass. St. Kevin Senior Club News We will meet on Tuesday, November 6th in the Monsignor Finnerty Parish Center. The meeting is from 1:30 to 4:30 P.M. We are running an overnight trip to the Two Trees Inn at Foxwood/Mohegan Sun Casinos on Thursday and Friday, December 6th & 7th. Package includes two buffet dinners and one buffet breakfast. VETERAN S DAY EVENT In 2017, the Archdiocese for the Military Services announced that the United States Military might soon have a patron saint, Lieutenant Father Vincent R. Capodanno. Father Capodanno was a heroic Catholic priest who served in the Vietnam War and was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. On Monday, November 12, 2018 at 12:00 p.m Noon, at St. Anastasia (Father Smith Hall) th Street Douglaston, NY 1136, there will be a viewing of a 90 minute film titled, Called and Chosen at St. Anastasia Parish in Douglaston Queens. The film is about the life of this virtuous priest from his early childhood in New York to the ultimate sacrifice of giving his life on the battlefield in Vietnam on September 4, Special guest, George Philips, will be present to share his personal experience of Father Capodanno on that tragic day in Vietnam and why he should be named a saint for the Catholic Church and for all veterans. The Annual Thanksgiving Food Collection is scheduled for Tuesday, November 20th. If you are unable to contribute a box containing a complete meal, why not join with a friend or two and put one together? If you would prefer to make a free-will donation at the Thanksgiving Day Mass, we will use the money to help needy families at Christmas. If you have any questions, please call the rectory ( ).
