Becoming a worshiping people who give praise and glory to God by keeping the Lord s day Holy, by celebrating Holy Mass on Sunday, and by encountering the Lord Jesus in the sacramental life and daily prayer. Becoming a missionary people who live our Catholic faith on a daily basis in witness of the Lord Jesus to the world; to our family, our neighbors, our friends, and our co-workers. In this way Jesus is known by the fruit of our lives and in our love for others; this is at the heart of evangelization and catechesis. Becoming a merciful people who put our faith into action by practicing the spiritual and corporal works of mercy: The Spiritual Works of Mercy: instructing, advising, consoling, and comforting The Corporal Works of Mercy: feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and imprisoned, and burying the dead

RESPECT LIFE MOVIE EVENT St. Mark Respect Life committee is hosting showings of the film Sexual Revolution in the gym on Friday, February 22 nd at 7:00 pm, Saturday, February 23 rd at 7:00 pm and Sunday, February 24 th at 3:00 pm. No tickets needed. Free will offerings will be accepted. The film was released in 2018 in time for the 50 th anniversary of Humane Vitae. The recommended age is 14 and up. This is a great movie for youth groups, Confirmation classes and families with older children. For information contact Rebecca Anderson at (206) SATURDAY 5:00 PM LECTORS NEEDED We have vacancies that we need to fill for the responsibility of lectoring at the Saturday 5:00 pm Masses. Commitment would be to lector once a month or once every other month depending on the number of weekends in a given month or if substitutes are needed. Lectors are responsible for proclaiming the First and Second Readings and the Prayers of the Faithful and training will be provided. You sit in the same area and greet and are greeted by the same parishioners. You donate what you can, when you can. Maybe you attend some parish events, maybe you don t. Maybe you haven t registered because you worry about being asked to do or give more than you are comfortable with. Please don t! St. Mark Parish is a community full of people with different talents, resources, interests and very importantly, different needs. There may be a time when you need your parish community and we want to be here for you. Your parish community definitely needs you right now. The dinner is Saturday, February 9 th. Doors and the bar open at 6:00 pm and dinner is served at 6:30. PARISH FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT St. Mark Parish Boy Scout Troop 309 is hosting a free family movie night for children of all ages. Join us in the cafeteria at 7:00 pm this Friday, February 8 th and watch the Dreamworks movie Megamind. Popcorn, candy and beverages will be available for purchase. They great people warmly as they arrive, invite people to bring up the offertory gifts, assist with seating, take up the offertory and distribute the bulletins after Mass. They also tidy-up behind attendees by putting up the kneelers, organizing the hymnals and picking up left items. FRAUDULENT S ALERT We have once again received reports of both staff and parishioners receiving messages claiming to be from Father Mitchell requesting that the recipient reply to the , send gift cards or initiate wire transfers. In all cases someone had set up a fake address (this time using the free service Gmail). Some of these fraudulent s very cleverly used Father s picture. These s are scams designed to steal from you. Father would never make such a request, nor would any parish staff If you receive such an do not reply to it! Block the sender. Do not provide personal or bank information. Before making a donation online of any kind: Attempt to verify the legitimacy of the non-profit status of the organization. Be cautious of s claiming to contain pictures in attached files, as the files may contain viruses. Do not click on links contained within an unsolicited . Do not provide personal or financial information to anyone who solicits contributions: providing such information may compromise your identity and make you vulnerable to identity theft. If you think you may have inadvertently given your personal information to a scammer contact your bank and local authorities immediately. You can contact the Internet Crime Complaint Center through the FBI at to report suspicious solicitations. If the scammer used information that referred to St. Mark Parish please contact Todd Chapman at (206) or toddc@saintmarkshoreline.org. The Federal Trade Commission has a useful website on , telephone and mail scams: Please know that the Saint Mark Parish database has not been compromised in any way.
