And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age. - Matthew 28:19-20 PARISH VISION STATEMENT They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers. Awe came upon everyone and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles=they ate their meals with exultation and sincerity of heart, praising God and enjoying favor with all the people. And every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved. - Acts 2:42 AS A PARISH, WE WILL FULFILL THE MISSION AND LIVE THE VISION BY... Becoming a worshiping people who give praise and glory to God by keeping the Lord s day Holy, by celebrating Holy Mass on Sunday, and by encountering the Lord Jesus in the sacramental life and daily prayer. Becoming a missionary people who live our Catholic faith on a daily basis in witness of the Lord Jesus to the world; to our family, our neighbors, our friends, and our co-workers. In this way Jesus is known by the fruit of our lives and in our love for others; this is at the heart of evangelization and catechesis. Becoming a merciful people who put our faith into action by practicing the spiritual and corporal works of mercy: The Spiritual Works of Mercy: instructing, advising, consoling, and comforting The Corporal Works of Mercy: feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and imprisoned, and burying the dead May He support us all the day long, till the shades lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. JOIN THE CHOIR St. Mark parish is blessed with a wonderful music program that assists at all Masses and we would love to have YOU join in singing with us! Whether you were in your school choir recently or long ago, sing professionally, or sing in the car you are welcome to come and sing at Mass. This is a great service opportunity for school kids and teens as well! RESPECT LIFE MOVIE EVENT St. Mark Respect Life committee is hosting showings of the film Sexual Revolution in the gym on Friday, February 22 nd at 7:00 pm, Saturday, February 23 rd at 7:00 pm and Sunday, February 24 th at 3:00 pm. No tickets needed. Free will offerings will be accepted. The film was released in 2018 in time for the 50 th anniversary of Humane Vitae. The recommended age is 14 and up. This is a great movie for youth groups, Confirmation classes and families with older children. Lectors are responsible for proclaiming the First and Second Readings and the Prayers of the Faithful and training will be provided. Thank you very much for considering this important service! 1ST FRIDAY ADORATION TIME CHANGE Friday, February 1 st, will be our monthly First Friday Exposition and Adoration in the church from 12:10 pm until 7:00 when we will celebrate the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. We are pleased to offer all St. Mark parishioners a time of reflective prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. PRINCESS ANGELINE Join our circle of sisters on Sunday, February 3 rd at 1:00 pm for the Rosary. The meeting will begin at 1:30 in the portable library next to the school. You donate what you can, when you can. Maybe you attend some parish events, maybe you don t. Maybe you haven t registered because you worry about being asked to do or give more than you are comfortable with. Please don t! St. Mark Parish is a community full of people with different talents, resources, interests and very importantly, different needs. There may be a time when you need your parish community and we want to be here for you. Your parish community definitely needs you right now. 5 FAITH FORMATION N SEATTLE CATHOLIC YOUTH Middle School and High School Groups: No Sunday Gathering/Discipleship Groups this Sunday due to CYC. Next weekend we ll be showing the Superbowl. We ll have snacks and games available as well. Families are invited to watch the game with us! FAMILY FORMATION The family...is the cradle of life and of every Vocation -Pope Benedict XVI February s virtue is prudence making good decisions in specific circumstances. Our next Family Formation is on Sunday, February 3 rd.. If your family has not yet attended one of the gatherings, you are invited to attend our February session. Coffee and water is provided each session and we invite our families to bring in treats to share with everyone. See everyone next Sunday, February 3 rd at 10:05 am. CONFIRMATION INFORMATION There are no Confirmation sessions during the week of January 27 th. Our next Confirmation Prep sessions are: Tuesday, February 5 th at 7:00 pm at St. Mark Thursday, February 7 th at 7:00 pm at Christ the King Saturday, February 9 th at 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Lake Confirmation Mass at St. Mark is scheduled for Wednesday, May 15 th, 2019 at 7:00 pm. Volunteers are needed as small group leaders for our Confirmation prep sessions. Our children have been preparing to receive this wonderful sacrament over the past several months. Both our parish and school children will be receiving their First Reconciliation on Saturday, February 2 nd at 10:00am. Please arrive in Sullivan Hall at 9:45 am. Attention parents! Please spend time this week and next week reviewing the How to go to Confession information given to you by Mrs. McAllister or Mrs. Anderson. It is important they feel comfortable when making their confession. Help them too, to review the Act of Contrition. Copies will be available for them to take into the confessional, if needed. Looking ahead, our parent meeting for First Communion for parish and school families is on Thursday, February 7 th at 6:30 pm in Sullivan Hall. This meeting is mandatory and for parents only. Please arrange for child care.
