3 PASTOR S LETTER: Holy Trinity The Celtic Trinity Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, On this Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, let us pray that we will always have open hearts to fully receive the loving embrace by our Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit! Glory be to the Father, who by His almighty power and love created me, making me in the image and likeness of God. Glory be to the Son, who by His Precious Blood delivered me from hell, and opened for me the gates of heaven. Glory be to the Holy Spirit, who has sanctified me in the sacrament of Baptism, and continues to sanctify me by the graces I receive daily from His bounty. Glory be to the Three adorable Persons of the Holy Trinity, now and forever! Amen. Blessings, Fr David Mulholland

4 PASTOR S LETTER: page 2 Transition: Obedience and Freedom! Do you promise to be obedient to me and my successors? I DO! Last week at the Masses I announced that I have the opportunity to yet again experience freedom, as a fruit of obedience, in the Archbishop s call for me to conclude my six year term here at Saint Mark, and move to my hometown of Tacoma for a new assignment. That s what every good priest does when he places his hands in the hands of his bishop and says I do on his ordination day. Freedom truly flows from following the call of the Lord in life and in ministry. I have always said yes to the Archbishop in assignments and neither he nor God has disappointed! All of my assignments have been blessings. From Sacred Heart Parish and the campus ministry in Bellingham, to the six parish cluster of Lewis County, to the chancery as Vicar for Clergy, to Saint Mark Parish and now to the parishes of Saint Patrick, Saint Rita of Cascia, and Holy Cross in Tacoma. I am blessed to be able to be obedient and experience the freedom that response entails. Coming to take my place is Fr. Joseph Mitchell, who is presently pastor of Saint Cecilia Parish on Bainbridge Island. I know you will welcome him just as you welcomed me six years ago! So, please pray for me, Fr. Mitchell, and all the priests who have responded in obedience and are preparing for new assignments this coming summer. My last Sunday Masses will be on Father s Day, June 17 th. And every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved. - Acts 2:42 AS A PARISH, WE WILL FULFILL THE MISSION AND LIVE THE VISION BY... Becoming a worshiping people who give praise and glory to God by keeping the Lord s day Holy, by celebrating Holy Mass on Sunday, and by encountering the Lord Jesus in the sacramental life and daily prayer. Becoming a missionary people who live our Catholic faith on a daily basis in witness of the Lord Jesus to the world; to our family, our neighbors, our friends, and our co-workers. In this way Jesus is known by the fruit of our lives and in our love for others; this is at the heart of evangelization and catechesis. Becoming a merciful people who put our faith into action by practicing the spiritual and corporal works of mercy: The Spiritual Works of Mercy: instructing, advising, consoling, and comforting The Corporal Works of Mercy: feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and imprisoned, and burying the dead

Let s all take a moment to thank Father Mulholland for providing this important sacrament on Thursday evenings for so many months. We hope many of you were able to take advantage of this special time. Saturday confessions continue at 8:00 am and 3:30 pm.
