Pastor s Letter: Year of Consecrated Life Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Pope Francis has called the entire Church to focus our prayerful attention on consecrated life for the coming year.

2 Pastor s Letter: Year of Consecrated Life Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Pope Francis has called the entire Church to focus our prayerful attention on consecrated life for the coming year. Consecrated life is a specific vocational calling in which men and women consecrate their entire lives to Christ in a religious order or society. It is a unique calling, especially in today s world and culture. It is a calling that calls the gift of your entire self to be given over to God, with nothing held back. That is definitely a tall order! Nevertheless, men and women have being doing just that for a very long time, and they continue to do so. Please join me in a prayer of thanksgiving for the commitment of the many men and women religious who have served and do serve in our Archdiocese. And pray also that more young men and women might hear the call of God to devote their lives in this way; that they might receive and discern the call; and respond out of joy! 4 state legislative session Those of you who attended this year's March for Life in Olympia heard about current state bills that will affect life. Faith Formation News! Bible Study: Acts of the Apostles Our Bible study class has re-started. It meets each Thursday from 7-9 pm in Sullivan Hall, ending on June 18. Our course will study the Acts of the Apostles, the story of the birth of the early church, written by St. Luke. The class consists of viewing a DVD of the weekly lesson taught by Dr. Jeff Cavins of the Great Adventure Catholic Bible Study program, and then small group discussion of the weekly readings, based on the class notebook. Contact the Parish Office for more info. Perpetual Adoration Perpetual Adoration, ongoing at St. Mark parish for over 25 years, is the practice of praying in front of the exposed Blessed Sacrament. It is a meaningful way to strengthen your prayer life and deepen your personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Please consider sacrificing one hour of your week to be with our Lord and Savior. We currently have the following hours open: Tuesday: 12:01-1 AM (early Tuesday morning) Thursday: 8-9 PM Sunday: 4-5AM Mat Connolly Corporal Works of Mercy Project Our students are learned about the Seven Corporal Works of Mercy through a special educational program provided by the charitable organization, Cross Catholic Outreach. The program is designed to teach children the meaning of charity and how to put their faith into action. Students came to understand the true meaning of loving one s neighbor and what the Seven Works of Mercy can mean in their own lives and the lives of others, as they perform deeds of mercy. On a global level, the students learned about the needs of the poorest of the poor across the world and how Catholic missionaries are trying to meet those physical and spiritual needs. The students learned how they can make a difference by raising funds to help missionaries who work with the poorest of the poor. Below is the total amount of money raised for these charities.
