Awe came upon everyone and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles<they ate their meals with exultation and sincerity of heart, praising God and enjoying favor with all the people. Becoming a worshiping people who give praise and glory to God by keeping the Lord s day Holy, by celebrating Holy Mass on Sunday, and by encountering the Lord Jesus in the sacramental life and daily prayer. Becoming a missionary people who live our Catholic faith on a daily basis in witness of the Lord Jesus to the world; to our family, our neighbors, our friends, and our co-workers. In this way Jesus is known by the fruit of our lives and in our love for others; this is at the heart of evangelization and catechesis. Becoming a merciful people who put our faith into action by practicing the spiritual and corporal works of mercy: The Spiritual Works of Mercy: instructing, advising, consoling, and comforting The Corporal Works of Mercy: feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and imprisoned, and burying the dead

4 PARISH LIFE PRINCESS ANGELINE Christmas is in the air< Okay, we know it s Advent now but we are joyful already and we d like to invite St. Mark women to our annual Christmas Party and social today in the portable library behind the school. We start with the Rosary at 1:00 pm and the party will begin at 1:30. You ll have fun, nibble on treats and get to know some creative women who like to support St. Mark! ST. MARK SIMBANG GABI Our annual Simbang Gabi Mass will be celebrated on December 9 th at the 11:00 Mass with a guest choir and cantor. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend. As tradition goes, a reception will follow immediately in the gym. We truly look forward to seeing you and your family there. KNIGHTS SANTA BREAKFAST The Knights of Columbus will host their annual Santa Breakfast after all Masses on December 23 rd. Where else can you enjoy biscuits and gravy, French toast, ham, pancakes, sausage, scramble eggs, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice and get a picture with Santa, too? This St. Mark tradition helps our Knights support many charities and ministries MARCH FOR LIFE IN OLYMPIA St. Mark will charter a bus for the March for Life Tuesday, January 22 nd in Olympia. This year we have only one bus so sign up as soon as you can. The Mass for Life will not be at St. Martin s this year. The bus will leave about 7:15 am and return by 3:00 pm. TO REQEST A LETTER FROM FATHER Protocol for anyone requesting a letter of endorsement, recommendation or approval by the pastor is to prepare an electronic draft and send it to Father Mitchell for editing, placement on letterhead and signature. The draft is to be complete with name, title and address of the person to whom it is addressed; the specific nature of the endorsement or affidavit and the specific event for which the endorsement applies. We are pleased to offer all St. Mark parishioners a time of reflective prayer before the Blessed Sacrament. QUEEN OF HEAVEN GUILD This is your chance to check out the Queen of Heaven Guild at a fun, low-pressure event. Our next meeting is our annual Christmas potluck party. Under this title Mary is the national patroness of the United States. It is a Holy Day of Obligation. Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 am. 5 Evening Bible Study Returns to St. Mark The Old Testament Covenants and the Prophets Proclaim the Coming Messiah Evening Bible study returns on Thursday, January 3 rd when we will explore the six covenants of the Old Testament (testament is a synonym for covenant). A covenant is a solemn oath establishing a family bond. The common covenants in our society are marriage and adoption, however, God has implemented His plan of salvation by making a series of covenants with humanity that expand and restore His family into the Kingdom of Heaven. Those six covenants are: 1) Adam and Eve husband and wife; 2) Noah parent and child; 3) Abraham the tribe of the faithful; 4) Moses a holy nation (which was first accepted but then rejected by the Hebrew people); 5) Moses a nation built upon a revealed religion of the Law (Torah) and the Temple priesthood; and 6) David the empire of the promised land and the everlasting king. The prophets then foretold the coming Messiah who would offer an eternal covenant with all humanity as the New Israel, fulfilled by Jesus Christ through His Church. We will read selected passages from Genesis, Exodus, 2 Samuel and many of the Prophets. There will be video sessions each week from Dr. Scott Hahn or Stephen Ray. We will meet each Thursday from 7 8:30 pm in Sullivan Hall, January 3 rd to May 23 rd. For the first class please read the first three chapters of the book of Genesis.
