2 Pastor s Letter: Easter Sunday Our Risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ If then you were raised with Christ, seek what is above. Colossians 3:1 Yes, today we have been raised with Christ! My friends, the Lord s resurrection from the dead was for you! Think about that for a minute. Jesus suffered through His passion, His crucifixion, and His death for you. He had you in mind as He took the blows of the hammer and was nailed to the cross. He thought of you as the blood flowed from His body and the price was paid for your salvation. And He rose from the tomb for you and for me and for all of us. When His dead d body became a living, glorified body in the early hours of that third day, that first Easter, the Lord Jesus had you in mind. He took you by your hand and as the stone was rolled away, He led you out of the tomb of death and into the beautiful light of eternal life. He did it just for you and for me and for all of us! Why? Well, as a priest wrote recently on his blog, not because we are bad and sinful (although we are!) but because we are so good and worth saving! How true that is. Jesus knows that each of us is worth it all! My friends, I hope you see just how personal and at the same time, how universal, is the gift of salvation and eternal life from God. Jesus loves you, because He created you; you are good and worth everything to Him! If we rise with Him, then we must seek Him and what lies above at all times, not just on Easter Sunday but on all days. Take time this Easter Sunday to simply gaze upon the face of Christ; to look into His eyes and thank Him; and love Him for so great a gift. And then, allow Him to look back at you and accept His love and mercy, each and every day. May the joy of this Easter day remain with you always! And let us always keep our eyes fixed on Him! Fr David Mulholland

6 Living Life as Sacred Story 2014: FORTY WEEKS (Books are still available in the Parish Office) Sacred Story is a daily, strategic prayer method, based on the life and experiences of St. Ignatius of Loyola, which offers you the chance to look at your life through the lens of God's immeasurable love for you. In this light, you will develop a new compassion for yourself as you come to understand the wounds behind your thoughts, words and deeds; you will have the courage to name and change any destructive patterns holding you back from all God has planned for you. It is a journey of grace that will yield dividends both now and in eternity! Forty Weeks has three primary goals: 1. Help participants develop a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus 2. Unlock the graces of sacramental Reconciliation 3. Learn the art of spiritual discernment in the large and small choices of one s life Forty Weeks offers three spiritual exercises to accomplish the above goals: 15 Minute Daily Prayer The daily element of Forty Weeks is intended to help individuals develop a daily relationship with Jesus. To help you toward this relationship we propose the lesson for the week, including 15 minute times of prayer that you chose to do once or twice daily. Whole Life Confession The heart of the first third of the 40-week journey is the Whole Life Confession. Participants have found this to be one of the most important spiritual events in their lives. There will be several opportunities for experiencing this you will learn about and you should move toward week 11 with this holy goal in mind. Sacred Story Whole-Life Confession Retreats May 16,17,and 18 This retreat at the Archbishop Brunett Retreat Center in Federal Way will be specifically designed for participants of the Forty Weeks Program to make their Whole- Life Confession and enter fruitfully into the rest of the 40 week spiritual journey. For those participating in the Seattle Archdiocese Sacred Story Institute's 40 week spiritual journey, this weekend retreat will be the capstone experience of the first third of the journey. The first third of the Forty Weeks process is designed to help an individual pull together the narrative streams of one s life story. Most of us are used to compartmentalizing our experiences and most of us have never seen, felt or listened to our life story holistically. This experience takes time. This first period of the journey is intended to help one to see, feel and listen holistically. One could even describe it as a sort of archeological dig into one s story and history. This holistic digging and mapping expedition is geared toward helping us understand where we need healing so that each of us can bring our life to Jesus the Divine Physician, in a Whole-Life Confession. Jesus came to heal us and forgive us so we can bear fruit that endures to eternity. We really meet Jesus when we allow him to come to us in our weakness, sinfulness and need for transformation. Price: The fee for this 1-day retreat is $25 per-person. For specific information about this retreat please call: Helen Nguyen, Welcoming Coordinator Archbishop Brunett Retreat Center (206) The true meaning of easter Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen was one of the best-known and best -loved Catholic orators of the twentieth century, reaching millions of Christians of all denominations. Presented here are his timeless reflections on the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of our Lord, combined with Scripture and Gregorian Chant to create a powerful presentation that is sure to become a family favorite.. CD available in the vestibule.
