3 Prayer Ministry Members of the Church s Prayer Ministry Team are available in the Prayer Chapel following morning worship for anyone who would like people to pray for them. Prayer is available to everyone whether you are a church member or not. Our prayer ministry team are trained individuals under the authority of our ministers and all matters are treated in strictest confidence. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us." (1 John 5:14). Today The evening series is about people whom Jesus met. That why it s called Close Encounters. Sunday Night Live starts at 7.00pm and Gary McDowell will continue with the series Close Encounters from John Sunday 13th July The morning series is looking at the book of psalms. We have given it the title Songs in the key of Life because the psalms touch on every area of human experience. Sunday Morning Worship starts at 11.00am and Michael Anderson will continue with the series Songs in the Key of Life from Psalm 107. THERE IS NO Sunday Night Live tonight. PRAYERS FOR OTHERS Prayer for people This week please pray for those in our congregation family who are in hospital, or in need of prayer. Especially Robert, Diana, Bob, Gordon, Min, Margery, Eileen, Patricia, Barbara, Jennifer, Kathleen, Dakota, Vivien and Miriam.

4 PRAYER FOR OTHERS Prayer for Mission Ireland and Mission Overseas MISSION IRELAND Arklow Presbyterian Church Pray for: Pray for the Kirk Session, Committee and Congregation and Vacancy Convener (Rev Dr Kathryn Meyer) and that the congregation will be able to move swiftly to a position of being granted leave to call a new minister. Pray for all the churches that will be vacant by the end of June along the south east coast of Ireland Bray, Blackrock, Greystones and Arklow. Pray for great wisdom for BMI, Union Commission and the Dublin and Munster Presbytery as decisions are made about these churches in granting leave to call. MISSION OVERSEAS IRAQ Over the past couple of weeks, violence has been spreading across parts of Iraq, resulting in a growing humanitarian crisis. More than half a million people have fled from the northern city of Mosul and surrounding areas. They do not know what fate awaits them, or when they will be able to return home. Christian Aid has been working through their partner organisations in Iraq for over 20 years and is currently responding to the needs of thousands of internally displaced men, women and children. Over 500,000 people have fled their homes with no promise of when and if they will be able to return. These families have no means of accessing the basic essentials for survival such as food, shelter and hygiene essentials. Pray for the situation in Iraq; for an end to all violence and for the rights of all citizens to be upheld and protected. Pray for all citizens who have been affected by the violence, and that humanitarian assistance will reach all in need. Remember especially the small Christian minority in the country. Pray that they will be protected and remain strong in their faith in the Lord. KENYA Stephen Cowan reports that ministry at Seren continues. More visits are being made to the area as they plan the infrastructure to build the new girls dormitory

5 and to talk more with the community about their plans to build a safe place for girls. Evangelism will take place at night. Pray for safety in travel, and when working and staying out. Pray for faithfulness in team members who go out to Seren, that they will enjoy serving, and some on the fringe will come to Christ. Pray for Kasoni, and others this week as they visit schools in the area, and Ilaut on Friday. Pray for plans for the August youth camps, which will be led by a team from Waringstown Presbyterian church. Pray for some new guys in the garage that they will be influenced positively by Simon who is a believer. Sadly, many animals in the Tuum area are thin and at risk of dying. Pray that more people will change their traditional ways to maximize the potential for pasture conservation when possible in order to provide grazing areas for longer. In recent weeks, the terrorist threat level has increased in areas close to the Kenya-Somalia border, along most of the east coast of Kenya, and in parts of Nairobi. The main threat is from Al-Shabaab, a militant Islamist group which has carried out a number of attacks in Kenya, in response to Kenya s military intervention in Somalia. Between 15th and 17th June, more than 60 people were killed in an attack in the town of Mpeketoni, on the east coast of Kenya. It is not clear who was behind the attack, with some blaming Al-Shabaab whilst others blaming local political groups. Pray for the families of those who were killed in Mpeketoni, leaving an unknown number of orphans and widows behind. Pray for the security and political situation in the area which remains tense. Pray against further attacks. Nairobi and Mombasa continue to be on high alert of planned terror attacks. Each Tuesday and Thursday, morning and afternoon, since 17th June, continuing through into July, Gary has been teaching Levels 1 through to 4, of the Worship Leaders Course. Despite being ill, God has provided Gary with the strength to continue, and this year there are 49 Maasai from four different churches attending the classes. Pray for Gary as he teaches, and the Maasai who come to learn at the Worship Leaders Courses. Pray that God s Holy Spirit will teach the Maasai and draw them closer to Him.

6 CHURCH NOTICES Wednesday 9th July The Wednesday Table Tennis Group continue to meet each week 10am- 12noon. New members will be made most welcome. Mizen to Malin Charity Cycle Challenge 430 miles (8-11 July, 2014) During July this year, Neale Agnew our Director of Music is planning, along with a group of friends, to cycle the length of Ireland, from Mizen to Malin Head (430 miles uphill!) over 4 days in July. It is hoped that the cycle will generate funds for 3 local charities:- Friends of Cancer Centre, Belfast, Clic Sargent for children with cancer & the Motor Neuron Disease Society.
