MISSION OVERSEAS From MISSION OVERSEAS PRAYERLINE UKRAINE The situation in Ukraine remains very fragile and tense following the latest ceasefire agreement in Ukraine which came into effect on 15th February. PCI partners with the Reformed Church of Sub-Carpathia (RCSC) located in the far west of the country. People across Ukraine are suffering from currency depreciation, price rises, shortages of gas, and are living in fear of what is to come. Partial military mobilisation across the country has also affected Hungarian families, in Transcarpathia, with people being called up to serve in the army. Pray for the ceasefire agreement to be implemented fully and for a peaceful and fair resolution to the crisis to come soon. Pray for all in Ukraine suffering as a result of the conflict. Pray especially for the Reformed Church in Transcarpathia, as it seeks to continue its ministry and witness and help those in need. Give thanks for assistance the church has received from Hungarian Reformed Church Aid.
7 SYRIA Dozens of Assyrian Christians have been abducted by Islamic State fighters in the north east of the country. As the violence continues across the country, so many ordinary people are suffering the consequences. Out of the pre-war population of 23 million people, an estimated 13 million Syrians are now in need of humanitarian assistance. Around 7.2 million people are internally displaced and over 3 million people are living as refugees outside of Syria. Pray for the people of Syria as the conflict continues. Pray for our partner the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon (NESSL). Pray for its leaders and pastors as they seek to minister to their congregations during such a difficult time. Pray that the leaders and members will remain strong in their faith and receive humanitarian assistance as needed. Pray too for all efforts to bring an end to the conflict. THAILAND The Church of Christ in Thailand (CCT) has churches in most areas of Thailand and is actively involved in HIV/AIDS and child abuse awareness education, providing help to sufferers and their families. CCT s Lamp of Thailand (LOT) distributes Christian literature to church leaders, and Bible correspondence course to children and adults in schools and prison. Pray for the ongoing work and witness of CCT and for LOT s outreach and teaching ministry. MYANMAR Whilst still ruled by a junta, Myanmar has been experiencing greater freedom in recent times. Evangelism and church planting are ongoing priorities of the Presbyterian Church of Myanmar (PCM), along with outreach in rural areas, improving education and theological training and developing community healthcare. Pray for the restoration of democratic rule in Myanmar; and for courage and persistence for PCM, seeking to witness to Jesus Christ in a majority Buddhist society. CHINA In a population exceeding 1.3 billion, Chinese Christians number around 150 million. Despite ongoing persecution, many people are coming to faith and there is a real hunger for God particularly among students. PCI s links are with the Amity Foundation, which promotes health, education and welfare in China Pray that the Church in China would continue to grow at all levels in society; and remember those who are being persecuted for their faith. Pray also for the ongoing work and witness of the Amity Foundation. FEBA William Mateer, FEBA Ireland Ambassador, appreciates your prayerful support as he has been seeking a new opportunity to serve the Lord and has an interview
8 with an agency that supports the persecuted church on Thursday. He sends the following prayer requests from Feba:- Africa: Pray for the Street Children s project in partnership with a local youth ministry and the Children s Radio Foundation in the Democratic Republic of Congo, asking God to bless this new partnership and the children s leaders who are selected to take part in the project. This will give them a voice. Pray that they will be strengthened and encouraged by this opportunity to make effective radio programmes that speak into their everyday needs. Thank God for this opportunity to share the gospel in the city of Kinshasa bringing hope to those many thousands of children abandoned and lost. Asia: Pray for the new partnerships in Kolkata, India as Feba reaches out to women trapped in the sex trade asking God to encourage the women as they listen to the programmes and also speaking to local men about the value of women. Pray for the project in Siliguri highlighting the needs of those vulnerable young women/girls caught in trafficking that they would be encouraged and valued and not seen as merely monetary commodities, but as souls created in the image of God. Middle East: Pray for the many Coptic Christians in Egypt mourning the loss of loved ones in the recent murder of 21 men in Libya asking God to cover the hurting with His love. Pray that Feba s programmes will be a blessing to those broken families, asking God to minister to these people at their point of need. Give thanks for the opportunity to share the love of Christ over the radio to these poor, marginalised people and that the programmes would be a real blessing to them in their hour of need. Audio Recordings of today s services and previous services are available online at For this and more information about the church visit and connect at At the rear of the church there is a Visitors Book. If you are a visitor with us today please take time to sign the book. Thank you FISHERWICK PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Address 4 Chlorine Gardens, Belfast, BT9 5DJ Telephone office@fisherwick.net Web
