3 Introit - Hodie, Christus natus est Call to Worship Praise Carol O Little town of Bethlehem 1 O little town of Bethlehem How still we see thee lie Above thy deep and dreamless sleep The silent stars go by Yet in thy dark streets shineth The everlasting Light The hopes and fears of all the years Are met in thee tonight 2 For Christ is born of Mary And gathered all above While mortals sleep, the angels keep Their watch of wondering love O morning stars together Proclaim the holy birth And praises sing to God the King And Peace to men on earth 3 How silently, how silently The wondrous gift is given! So God imparts to human hearts The blessings of His heaven. No ear may his His coming, But in this world of sin, Where meek souls will receive him still, The dear Christ enters in. 4 O holy Child of Bethlehem Descend to us, we pray Cast out our sin and enter in Be born to us today We hear the Christmas angels The great glad tidings tell O come to us, abide with us Our Lord Emmanuel. Prayer
4 Old Testament Reading Isaiah 53: 1-6 Praise - Carol Silent Night 1 Silent night, holy night! Sleeps the world; hid from sight, Mary and Joseph in stable bare watched o'er the Child beloved and fair sleeping in heavenly rest, sleeping in heavenly rest. 2 Silent night, holy night! Shepherds first saw the light, heard resounding clear and long, far and near, the angel-song: Christ the Redeemer is here, Christ the Redeemer is here! 3 Silent night, holy night! Son of God, O how bright love is smiling from your face! Strikes for us now the hour of grace, Saviour, since you are born, Saviour, since you are born! New Testament Reading Luke 2: 1-14 Address The birth of Jesus is announced to the Shepherds Call to Communion Praise Carol See amid the winter snow 1 See amid the winterís snow, born for us on earth below, see the tender lamb appears, promised from eternal years. Hail, thou ever-blessed morn! Hail, redemption s happy dawn! sing through all Jerusalem: Christ is born in Bethlehem 2 Lo, within a manger lies he who built the starry skies; he who, throned in height sublime,
5 sits amid the cherubim! Hail, thou ever-blessed morn! Hail, redemption s happy dawn! sing through all Jerusalem: Christ is born in Bethlehem 3 Sacred Infant, all divine, what a tender love was thine, thus to come from highest bliss Down to such a world as this! Hail, thou ever-blessed morn! Hail, redemption s happy dawn! sing through all Jerusalem: Christ is born in Bethlehem 4 Teach, O teach us, holy Child, by the face so meek and mild, teach us to resemble thee, in thy sweet humility. Hail, thou ever-blessed morn! Hail, redemption s happy dawn sing through all Jerusalem: Christ is born in Bethlehem Words of Institution Prayer Distribution (you are asked to come forward pew by pew) The choir will sing carols while the congregation shares in Communion The Peace Praise - Carol Hark the Herald 1 Hark! the herald angels sing glory to the new-born King; peace on earth and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled! Joyful all you nations rise, join the triumph of the skies; with the angelic host proclaim, 'Christ is born in Bethlehem': Hark! the herald angels sing
6 glory to the new-born King. 2 Christ, by highest heaven adored, Christ, the everlasting Lord; late in time behold Him come, offspring of a virgin's womb: veiled in flesh the Godhead see, hail the incarnate Deity! Pleased as man with us to dwell, Jesus, our Emmanuel: Hark! the herald angels sing glory to the new-born King. 3 Hail the heaven-born Prince of peace, hail the son of Righteousness; light and life to all He brings, risen with healing in His wings: mild, He lays His glory by born that we no more may die; born to raise us from the earth, born to give us second birth: Hark! the herald angels sing glory to the new-born King.
