Tickets now available at 3.50 each, from any officer. Profits go towards the Boys Brigade funds. Link to Hope: The shops have started to sell Christmas goods so I thought I d better remind everyone about the Link to Hope Shoebox Appeal. Leaflets are now available from the coffee bar. Please remember that if you can t fill a shoebox, I m happy to receive any cash to go towards buy goods to fill a box. 5 GOOD NEWS FROM AROUND THE CIRCUIT CHEDDINGTON Dear All This Sunday, 30 September, it is the turn of Cheddington to be the focus of our Circuit Prayers. A look at the Church website will give you an idea of all the activities that go on here - from Toast on a Monday morning to film shows every month on a Friday evening. There is even the opportunity to share fish and chips on a Friday lunchtime. Please support them whenever you can and remember the work there in your prayers this Sunday. (PS: Someone tell me - what is 'Angel Bombing'?) Pete Honeyball Extending hospitality continues to be one of our ways of witnessing to the community, and we were able to do that on 15th September when we opened our Chapel for afternoon tea and cakes to Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher and his associates, who came to the village to present members of the Parish Council and Residents Association with the De Frayne Cup as part of the Best Kept Village Competition. It was a wonderful opportunity to show everyone our newly-decorated Schoolroom and thank all those village organisations who had contributed so generously to the refurbishment. We opened our doors once again to assist with some welcome refreshments for all those who took part in the Ride and Stride event at the beginning of this month. Recently one of the ladies in the village has offered to support us with our Schoolroom bookings to ease the burden on one of our stewards, and for that we are truly grateful. Last Sunday we celebrated Harvest with our Anglican friends at the church, and today they will be joining us at the Chapel as we regularly do on the 5th Sunday of the month. Our other joint activities continue to thrive but we are making real progress with our angels in preparation for our angel bombing in early December, which we hope will enhance our outdoors Nativity scene. Many thanks as always for your continued prayer support for us as we continue to go forward in faith, despite our advancing years. Cathy Craft

[Cakes & Crafts for Sale] VALE OF AYLESBURY METHODIST CIRCUIT FREE EVENT - FREE BACON ROLLS - FREE VEGGIE ROLLS - FREE SPARKLERS Saturday 3 November at Stoke Mandeville Methodist Church We have a Gospel to Proclaim We d like you to come and join us at an exciting event in early November. The Circuit Leadership Team have looked at what you said at the Circuit Consultation in June and have arranged two sessions to try to help answer some of the problems you raised. Feel free to come for one or both sessions am Bacon rolls, veggie rolls, tea and coffee am Session 1: Talking about Jesus pm Lunch break - bring your own sandwiches. Tea/ coffee 1.00 pm Session 2: Growth Plans 3.00 pm Finish 3.01 pm Light Sparklers and go home! Our meeting in June concentrated on aspects of Our Calling as Methodists. We believe that as Christians we have a unique gift to offer to those who do not know Jesus, and as Methodists we are well-positioned to tell of his love and all he has done for us. Methodism was born amid and because of Evangelism as a church we are first and foremost evangelists. But the big But, many of you said in June that the biggest barrier you experience outside the church building is the difficulty of speaking about Jesus to other people. Rev Jill Marsh District Mission Enabler for the Northampton District will be joining us for the day and helping us to learn, and to develop our confidence and plans, together. She s told us that one of her favourite things is doing this kind of work with local churches and is really looking forward to meeting you! The day is open to all. Everyone is welcome to either or both sessions. Oh, and I nearly forgot! Please let me know whether you prefer bacon baps or veggie rolls from 9.15am. Tea/coffee will also be served at lunchtime (but please bring your own sandwiches). There will be no charge for the day but plates will be available for donations to cover costs.
