Welcome It s all about Jesus and food! Morning Service Sunday 2nd June at 11.00am
Introit Psalm 62 vv 5-8 Tune Howard 70 Sung at Derek s ordination in First Bangor 10th January 1971 Only on God do thou my soul still patiently attend my expectation and my hope on him alone depend. He only my salvation is, and my strong rock is he; He only is my sure defence: I shall not moved be. In God my glory placed is, and my salvation sure; In God the rock is of my strength, my refuge most secure. Ye people, place your confidence in him continually; Before him pour ye out your heart: God is our refuge high. Call to Worship Praise Hymn 10(CH3) Christ is made the sure foundation 1 Christ is made the sure foundation, Christ the head and cornerstone, Chosen of the Lord, and precious, Binding all the Church in one, Holy Zion's help for ever, And her confidence alone. 2 To this temple, where we call thee, Come, O Lord of hosts, today: With thy wonted loving kindness, Hear thy servants as they pray, And thy fullest benediction Shed within its walls alway. 3 Here vouchsafe to all thy servants
What they ask of thee to gain, What they gain from thee for ever With the blessed to retain, and hereafter in thy glory Ever more with thee to reign. 4 Laud and honour to the Father, Laud and honour to the Son, Laud and honour to the Spirit, Ever Three and ever One, One in might, and One in glory, While unending ages run. Amen. Praise Hymn 214 Jesus is the name we honour 1 Jesus is the name we honour Jesus is the name we praise. Majestic name above all other names, The highest heaven and earth proclaim That Jesus is our God. We will glorify, We will lift him high, We will give him honour and praise. We will glorify, We will lift him high, We will give him honour and praise. 2 Jesus is the name we worship; Jesus is the name we trust. He is the King above all other kings, Let all creation stand and sing That Jesus is our God. We will glorify, We will lift him high, We will give him honour and praise. We will glorify, We will lift him high, We will give him honour and praise. 3 Jesus is the Father s splendour; Jesus is the Father s joy.
He will return to reign in majesty, And every eye at last shall see That Jesus is our God. We will glorify, We will lift him high, We will give him honour and praise. We will glorify, We will lift him high, We will give him honour and praise. Praise Hymn 220 My Jesus my Saviour My Jesus, my Saviour, Lord, there is none like you. All of my days I want to praise the wonders of your mighty love. My comfort, my shelter, tower of refuge and strength, let every breath, all that I am, never cease to worship you. Shout to the Lord, all the earth, let us sing power and majesty, praise to the King. Mountains bow down and the seas will roar at the sound of your name. I sing for joy at the work of your hands. For ever I ll love you, for ever I ll stand. Nothing compares to the promise I have in you Nothing compares to the promise I have in you. Welcome Prayers and Lord s Prayer (sung) Children s Address
Praise Hymn 270 Jesus loves me this I know (Following the hymn Little Fishes is available for children aged between 0 3 years old. Children may leave for Kingfishers) 1 Jesus loves me! This I know, for the bible tells me so; little ones to Him belong; they are weak, but He is strong. The bible tells me so. 2 Jesus loves me! He who died; Heaven's gate to open wide; He will wash away my sin, let His little child come in. The bible tells me so. 3 Jesus loves me! He will stay close beside me all the way; then His little child will take up to heaven, for His dear sake. The bible tells me so. Lesson John 12: Andrew McKelvey Anthem Magnificat in C, by Stanford Magnificat Luke 1:46-55 My soul doth magnify the Lord : and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. For he hath regarded the lowliness of his hand-maiden. For behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
For he that is mighty hath magnified me : and holy is his Name. And his mercy is on them that fear him throughout all generations. He hath shewed strength with his arm : he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seat and hath exalted the humble and meek. He hath filled the hungry with good things and the rich he hath sent empty away. He remembering his mercy hath holpen his servant Israel : as he promised to our forefathers, Abraham and his seed, for ever. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be : world without end. Amen. Sermon Sirs, we would see Jesus Rev Dr Derek McKelvey Reflective Praise Hymn 207 How sweet the name of Jesus sounds 1 How sweet the name of Jesus sounds in a believer's ear! It soothes our sorrows, heals our wounds and drives away our fear. It makes the wounded spirit whole, and calms the troubled breast; it satisfies the hungry soul, and gives the weary rest, and gives the weary rest. 2 Dear Name, the rock on which I build, my shield and hiding-place; my never-failing treasury, filled with boundless stores of grace! Jesus, my shepherd, brother, friend, my prophet, priest, and king; my Lord, my life, my way, my end, accept the praise I bring, accept the praise I bring. 3 Weak is the effort of my heart, and cold my warmest thought;
but when I see you as you are, I'll praise you as I ought. Till then I would your love proclaim with every fleeting breath; and may the music of your name refresh my soul in death, refresh my soul in death. Jesus, Jesus Holy and anointed one Jesus Jesus, Jesus, holy and anointed One, Jesus Jesus, Jesus, risen and exalted One, Jesus Your name is like honey on my lips Your Spirit like water to my soul Your word is a lamp unto my feet Jesus I love You, I love You <repeat chorus> Jesus, Jesus, holy and anointed One, Jesus Prayers for Others Rev Dr George Grindle Offering Jupiter from the Planets suite, by Holst (Please stand as the Stewards bring the offering forward) Prayer of Dedication Church Announcements and Thanks Praise Hymn 316(CH3) Lo he comes with clouds descending 1 Lo! he comes, with clouds descending, Once for favoured sinners slain; Thousand thousand saints attending Swell the triumph of his train; Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! God appears on earth to reign. 2 Every eye shall now behold him, Robed in dreadful majesty; Those who set at naught and sold him, Pierced, and nailed him to the tree,
Deeply wailing, deeply wailing, deeply wailing, Shall the true Messiah see. 3 Those dear tokens of His Passion Still his dazzling body bears; Cause of endless exaltation To his ransomed worshippers; Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! See! the day of God appears! 4 Yea, Amen! let all adore thee, High on thine eternal throne; Saviour, take the power and glory, Claim the kingdom for thine own: O come quickly; O come quickly; O come quickly; Alelluia! come Lord, come!
