FREDERICTON MALE CHORUS CONCERT MAY 3: Please plan to attend a concert by the Fredericton Male Chorus on Friday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m. at Wilmot United Church. This 18 voice men's choir, directed by Steven Peacock and accompanied by pianist Doris Nicholson, will present a varied program of love songs, shanties, spirituals, folk songs, and anthems by Palestrina and Anderson. The concert will also feature performances by the Wilmot Senior Choir, the Maple Syrup Quartet, and soprano Amber Bishop. Admission is by voluntary contribution; all proceeds will support the work of Chrysalis House and Fredericton & Oromocto Big Brothers/Big Sisters. WILMOT SENIORS If you think you would enjoy some fun playing games such as 45 s and Scrabble, plan to come out to Seniors on Tuesday, May 7th at 1:30 in the Parlour. As usual, our afternoon will conclude with a refreshment time, this month provided by Group 1. All Seniors and Retirees 5

6 are very welcome! Looking Ahead: Put June 11 on your calendars for our Annual Mystery Day. Promising to be a great day...lots of fun but not too far and only 2 stops. $20 per person. THE UCW BOOK SALE IS BACK! It will take place on May 9th and 10th. Setup is on May 8th. We are looking for volunteers to help set up, sell and pack up on any one of these dates. Please contact Linda Gough at or e mail at lgough@nbnet.nb.ca. We are also looking for donations of books. They can be dropped off at the church any time between now and the set up date. What a wonderful opportunity to stock up on a wide variety of titles for your summer reading! Stop by and browse on the 9th and 10th of May. See you there! THIS AFTERNOON: The Fredericton Organists Association annual hymn sing will be a little different this year in that it features children & children s choirs. We are calling it Hymns for Kids & it will take place at Grace Memorial Baptist Church on April 28th at 3:00 pm. There will be performances by youth & children s choirs, a handbell choir, a string trio & instrumental soloists. All are welcome. There will be a free will offering. TEA FOR TWO: You are warmly invited to an afternoon tea hosted by the Fredericton Parish Nurses to be held at Christ Church Cathedral Memorial Hall on Thursday, May 2 nd from 2 to 4 pm. Free will offering, half the proceeds will go the Canadian Association for Parish Nursing and half to the Fredericton Parish Nurses. Hence tea for two! CELEBRATION OF SPRING CONCERT: The Bel Canto Singers of Fredericton, under the direction of Anne Sessa, will present a celebration of spring through a concert of beautiful music in Fredericton on Saturday, May 4 th at 7:30pm. The performance will be held in the lovely surroundings of Christ 6

7 Church Cathedral in downtown Fredericton. Tickets are $15 adults, $10 students, $30 for a family and are available at Westminster Books, from choir members and at the door. Visit the Bel Canto Singers of Fredericton online at TURKEY DINNER at the Oromocto United Church on May 4th from 4 6 pm. Adults $10, Children under 12 $5.00 and Preschool free. Everyone welcome. FREDERICTON MARCHING BAND is hosting a spring concert at Wilmot United Church on Monday, May 6 at 7:30 pm. Everyone is welcome. SERVICE OF HOPE: For all those touched by cancer a SERVICE OF HOPE will be held at Christ Church Cathedral on May 7 at 7 pm. This will be a Community Candlelight Service. Everyone welcome. MAY 7: After a delay due to some community opposition, A Child s View From Gaza Art Exhibit, it is Up and Open at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre, Penny gallery with the Opening Fri April 26th at 5:00 6:30 pm. Thanks to all who encouraged the centre to proceed with this exhibit. As part of the exhibit, there will be a screening of the film Budrus May 2 at 7pm at the CSAC multipurpose room. This film documents the non violent direct action of a village divided by the separation wall and how Palestinian, Israeli and International people all ages, genders and political affiliates came together to effect change. The short films, Samouni Street and Gaza Did You Know, will be screened before the feature film. KITCHEN PARTY FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY: Sat., May 11, 6:00 8:00 p.m. at the Boyce Farmers Market in support of Grandmothers Helping Grandmothers. INDOOR YARD SALE: Forest Hill United Church is having an indoor yard sale from 8:30 am to 1 pm on Saturday May 11. Vendors may rent an 8 foot length of table for $ Contact Dorma Grant at Dorma_grant@hotmail.com to book your table. Set up for vendors will be 7 to 8 pm on Friday May 10. Yard sale items or home made crafts encouraged. GRIEF SHARE SUPPORT GROUP begins Thursday, May 16 th. Have you experienced the recent death of a loved one? Brunswick Street Baptist Church is pleased to offer a 13 week Grief Share grief recovery seminar and support group. Grief Share features a video series that features Christian experts on grief and recovery topics as seen from a biblical perspective combined with support group discussion.
