3 This week Life Groups meet this week. Harvest Songs of Praise Tea Party On Sunday 2 nd October at 3.30pm. Seniors - if you haven t received an invitation from your pastoral visitor you will be very welcome to see the church decorated, be entertained by Carillion, and enjoy teatime treats. Please come. Alpha Course The Alpha 2011 course continues this Tuesday 4 th October, at 7.00pm. The theme will be Why did Jesus die? It is not too late to join the course; so please if you are interested let the church administrators know, or sign up on the website, or just come along on the evening. Men of Praise Men from the churches of Bramhall and Woodford gathering to worship God and share faith through music. Guitars, worship, coffee - at Costa Coffee, pm on first Tuesday of every month. The next one is this Tuesday, 4 th October. All men are welcome. The Men s Discussion Group will meet this Tuesday 4 th October at 8.00pm in the Church Lounge. LINK will meet this Thursday 6 th October at 7.45pm in the Church Hall. Mr Wickison from MIND will be speaking to us on Mental Health Day. Everyone welcome. Hallé Chamber Concert Friday 14 th October 7.30pm. An evening with Hallé Brass - music from Bach to Gershwin. Tickets 9 and 7 concession, includes refreshments. Available from Church Office, Thrift Shop, and at the door. Auction of Promises/Gifts The catalogues of promises and gifts are available. There is a fantastic range of items. Please collect your catalogue and purchase your tickets to be at the Auction Night on Saturday 15 th October, starting at 6.30pm. We are happy to still receive new items to supplement this catalogue. Please fill in the form and pass to John Sandford as soon as possible. With God on Our Side? To mark One World Week, a film exploring the tragedy of Israel and Palestine, and seeking a Christian alternative of peace and reconciliation. At Cheadle Hulme Methodist Church, Sunday 30 th October, 6.30pm. There will be a short time of worship, and after the film (which lasts 1½ hours), an opportunity for discussion. Everyone is welcome. Other Notices Communion Collections in October are in aid of Street Soccer Academy, a north-west charity in which some of our own folk are involved and which helps vulnerable individuals effect positive changes to their lifestyles.

5 The Nevin House Group will be selling cards after the morning services on 9 th Rainbow Appeal. October in aid of the Bramhall Day Centre has a few vacancies on Thursdays for members. If you know of any elderly person who would appreciate good company and a happy interesting day please let me know. David Sargent Communion collections in September for the Christian Aid appeal for the East Africa Crisis amounted to 1,145.93, plus a tax benefit on gift aid donations of Thank you for your generous support. The Nevin House Group will be selling cards after the morning services on 9 th Rainbow Appeal. October in aid of the Party for Babies and Toddlers On Sunday 16 th October ( pm) we're hosting a party in Centrepoint for the children on our Cradle Roll list and some of the toddlers who come to Little Fishes on a Friday. We are looking for volunteers to help serve drinks and refreshments as well as to chat to some of the parents. If you're able to help please contact Jo Fletcher on General Church Meeting There will be a General Church Meeting on Sunday 23 rd October, 11.30am pm, after the morning service. The meeting will provide an update on the Redevelopment Scheme. Advent Calendars I have managed to purchase Divine Fairtrade Advent Calendars at a very competitive price. They will be available at 3.50 a calendar, at least 30p of which will go to the Pakistan Flood Appeal. Marjorie Weeks who once resided in Bramhall passed away peacefully in her room at Eckling Grange Christian Care Home in Norfolk on 3 rd September.

Come and join the WORLD S BIGGEST COFFEE MORNING in aid of MACMILLAN CANCER CARE on Friday 7 th October at the home of Pauline Roberts, 1 Elswick Avenue 10.00am pm. Cards, Cakes and Bring & Buy Macmillan Coffee Morning: Our Scout Group is holding a Macmillan Coffee Morning on Saturday October 1 st from 10.00am until 12 noon at the Scout & Guide HQ, off Moor Lane, Woodford. (We are next to Woodford Cricket Club and the British Legion.) There will be coffee etc. and cake and book and cake stalls. Please come and support the Scout Group supporting this worthwhile cause. You are cordially invited to attend the District Network Autumn Meeting at Marple Methodist Church, Church Lane, Marple SK6 7AY on Thursday 13 th October at 10.30am. In the afternoon we will be celebrating the launch of Methodist Women in Britain. You are asked to bring along some food for the shared faith lunch we will be having, tea and coffee will be provided by the church. You are also asked to bring along any photographs you have of past Network events so that they can be displayed in the foyer.
