3 Worship Notes Tonight we will worship at Bethel CRC for our annual Labor Day service. Worship starts at 7:00pm. Next Sunday as we celebrate Communion we will also start our series based off from the church-wide Bible study entitled Crazy Love. In this first chapter we hear Francis Chan telling us to stop praying. It seems like a strange thing to say but his point is that we often pray without realizing to whom we are praying. So, we're going to stop for a moment to consider who this great God is that we pray to. Steve & Sandy Frieswick from the Salaam Project will be here next Sunday to share with us their work with Muslim people. The Salaam Project is a denominationally approved ministry that seeks to share the gospel with Muslims. Verse of the week: So he called ten of his servants and gave them ten minas. The Van Hill family would like to thank the congregation for their thoughts, prayers, and cards as they mourn the loss of Dominique's grandma. As you pray this week please remember these people in your prayers: - Laura Ten Pass and family as she is recovering. Pray for patience and healing. - Tabbie Vander Werff as she waits on another consultation to determine what can be done to help with her back. - Carlie Jansen who received GREAT NEWS, no spots! Pray for her as she goes back to school for the transition for Tyler and Carlie. - Bob Bille who had surgery on Friday. Pray that all goes well with his recovery. The kick-off for SWaT (Middle School Youth Group) will be this Friday night, Sept. 9 (6-8pm) at Gary and Katie De Jager's home. Come hungry as we will be roasting hot dogs and making s'mores over the fire and then playing lots of games. Friends are always welcome. The Christian Home Board of Directors is pleased to announce the scheduling of an informational meeting regarding the affiliation of the Christian Home with Agnesian HealthCare. Members from our sixteen sponsoring churches are invited to learn more about what has brought us to this point and our plan to ensure our community has a nursing home to care for our seniors. The meeting will be held September 20, 2016, starting at 7:00 pm, in the LGI room at the Waupun Junior/Senior High School. First Christian Reformed Church of Waupun and Fond du Lac Chapter of WI Right to Life have teamed up to offer a private showing of the movie VOICELESS at the Marcus Theater in Oshkosh. The movie will begin at 6:50 PM on Thursday, October 6 and costs $10 per person. VOICELESS is about a young, reserved, war veteran, who moves to Philadelphia to take a new ministry job and puts his life on the line to stand against an abortion clinic that moved across the street from the church. 8 Proclaiming Evidence for Truth THIS WEEK'S CREATION MOMENT The Living Corkscrew And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up: Matthew 13:4 If you have never opened a corked bottle, here's how to use a corkscrew. First, puncture the cork with the corkscrew's tip. Then turn the handle, forcing the metal screw deeper and deeper into the cork. Finally, when it's deep inside the cork, pull on the handle of the corkscrew to remove the cork from the bottle. Well, what would you think if I told you that there is a seed that is shaped like a corkscrew and that it can literally plant itself in the soil? The seed of the redstem filaree is indeed a wonder to behold, especially when you see it in time-lapse photography. As the seed dries, it changes shape and launches itself from the parent plant by a spring-type mechanism. As it falls, its corkscrew-shaped tail starts it spinning so it lands farther away from the parent plant. Once it lands, the seed pokes its head into the soil. Then its whole length starts turning in a counter-clockwise direction. With each revolution, it bores itself deeper and deeper into the soil. If the seed encounters an obstacle, it simply reverses direction, backs out and finds a better path! All right, evolutionists, answer this question: Which came first the seed's corkscrew shape or its "knowledge" of how to turn in the right direction until it has planted itself in the soil at the right depth?
