How about a simple and healthy meal? The youth group will be selling sub sandwiches starting this Wednesday. They are raising money for Live It, a summer youth convention. Thank you in advance for helping the youth. Calling all High School Girls... Join other girls from the area for a Girls Only Retreat at the Heidel House in Green Lake Feb. 27-March 1. Spend the weekend with just the girls worshiping God and relaxing with friends as we explore our theme, "Bad Girls of the Bible." The SWaT scavenger hunt event is this week! On February 25 th from 6:30 7:30pm the Bethel and First CRC middle school kids will be collecting food and toiletry items for the Waupun Food Pantry. We will stop by and pick items up from your home. Please consider helping a great cause and have the added pleasure of meeting some of the super young people in our churches! 5 SWaT kids should meet at First CRC at 6:00pm on Wednesday, February 25. We will begin with pizza and refreshments and then head off for a fun evening of collecting items for the Waupun Food Pantry. Parents can pick up at First CRC at 8:00pm. A SPRING RETREAT by First Place 4 Health, Saturday, April 11: 9 am to 2 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 525 W. Main Street, Waupun. Helen Baratta from Pennsylvania will lead us. She has lost 116 pounds through FP4H. For those interested a Boot camp exercise is at 7:30 am. If you have any questions, please call or text Katie Friendship Ministries is in need of a driver who is willing to transport a member of Friendship. Transportation would be from Brandon to Bethel CRC and from Bethel CRC back to Brandon on the 3rd Monday of each month (September - May). Friendship is held from 6:00-7:30pm. 6 Prayer Summit 2015 Registration is now open for the 3 rd CRC Prayer Summit. It will be held April 13 15, 2015 at All Nations CRC in Lake View Terrace, CA, in the greater Los Angeles area. Building on the previous Summits in 2012, 2013 and many additional regional prayer gatherings, this bi-national event will include pastors, church and ministry leaders, prayer leaders, and intercessors from across the United States and Canada, writes Dr. Steve Timmermans. All will come together to pray for the Christian Reformed Church and its North American and world-wide mission. 9 Proclaiming Evidence for Truth THIS WEEK'S CREATION MOMENT Plants with Perches for Pollinator Birds Praise the LORD from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps... Beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl. Psalm 147:7, 10 Could a plant devise a special growth for itself so that it becomes inviting to its only pollinator? If evolution were true, how could such a plant survive until it could learn enough about its pollinator, and about genetics, to evolve a special growth just for that pollinator? Those sound like silly questions, but if evolution is true, they must be answered, and answered scientifically. A South African plant called the "Rat's Tail" grows a seemingly purposeless spear that extends near its flowers. Theorizing that the spear might be a bird-perch for a pollinator, scientists closely watched some of the plants in the wild. They learned that the only bird that seems interested in pollinating the plant is a bird called the malachite sunbird. The scientists then removed the spikes from some of the plants. The result was that male sunbirds were far less likely to visit and pollinate those plants. As a result, perchlessplants only produced half as many seeds as plants with perches. Researchers pointed out that this arrangement makes sense because male sunbirds have long tails that can be damaged by ground landings. If we conclude that the Rat's Tails were created for the sunbirds, and the sunbirds for the Rat's Tails, we don't have to find natural explanations for such silly questions.
