Recommended that we spend time in prayer seeking God's direction on some subjects that we will need to address. 3. Talked about our vision statement and looked at section 1 of our vision Plan. 4. Received a Thank you from Alvin Venhuizen thanking the congregation for your gift and support, and encouraging everyone to use the gifts God has given them.

4 Deacons Report February Cause: REACH Waupun brings poverty awareness and relief to the community of Waupun, through relationships and education, allowing youth and their families to REACH their individual highest potential. At REACH, we strive to break down the barriers that can hold back the youth in the Waupun community. We also want to be a place where all community members can go to utilize their talents and gifts to give back to Waupun! If you would like the Prayer Chain, please contact Interim News: We would like to hold an informational meeting about the interim work that Pastor Harv is leading at First CRC following the morning service on Sunday, February 24, in the sanctuary. In that meeting we will give a brief update on our work so far and then Pastor Harv and council will be available for questions. We welcome all members and attenders of First CRC to attend this meeting. Morris Te Grootenhuis as he is now on Hospice. Pray for Bea and the family as they surround him. Travis & Jessica Mulder as Travis is admitted to Froedtert because he is having a relapse of leukemia. They are treating with chemo and planning for a bone marrow transplant.

5 Janet Ver Hage as she continues cancer treatments. Margaret Miedema as she continues to seek answers for the weakness and pain in her legs. Jeanette Tjepkema as she recovers from a fall and broken foot. Carlie Jansen, that everything goes good with her pregnancy and further care. Laura Ten Pass as she continues with cancer treatments. Leanne Johnson continue to pray for healing. It can be easy to forget about those that we don't see every week, so we are including a list of shut-ins within our congregation. We hope that you will take some time to visit, send cards, and pray for these members of our family. As Romans 12:10 says, "Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. The youth group SUB SALES are happening now so see a youth group member to get your order in today! All sub orders are due on February 27 and subs will be made at church on March 13. You may pick up your subs from 4 to 7 otherwise a youth group member will be happy to deliver your subs as well. All funds raised will go towards the youth group summer retreat this year. Thank you for all of your support! YOUTH GROUP SPAGHETTI SUPPER Looking for an excuse not to cook? Well, your high schoolers have you covered! Mark your calendars as the Youth Groups of Bethel and 1 st CRC will be having a spaghetti supper at Bethel CRC on Wednesday, February 27 th, starting at 5:00 and going until 7:30. This will be a free will donation supper that will go towards our summer retreat. We look forward to serving you and your family! Thanks again for all your support of our youth! ANNUAL FUN NIGHT! After much success last year, the Youth Groups of Bethel CRC and 1 st CRC will be holding a FUN NIGHT VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT and baked goods sale on Saturday, March 9 th, at CWC. A free will dinner will be provided again along with entertainment and care for

6 your younger kids. More details will be following but wanted to get the word out on our date so you can be planning your team. This was very fun last year, and with combined church youth groups we hope for a good turnout. All proceeds will go towards our retreat. A new Crusader Family Cookbook is in the making and we want your recipes! Since many people today are practicing mindful eating, this cookbook will include recipes that are good for your waistline and don't spike insulin. The categories for the cookbook are: Paleo, Ketogenic, Low Carb, Gluten Free, Mediterranean, Vegetarian, and Dutch Family Recipes (got to have those!). The subcategories will be the usual: Appetizers & Beverages, Soups& Salads, Vegetables and Side Dishes, Breads, Rolls & Crackers, Desserts, Cookies & Candy, Pizza, and This & That (whatever doesn't fit into any other category). There is no limit to the amount of recipes submitted. When submitting a recipe, please cite the source. For example, Taken from The Ultimate Ketogenic Cookbook, or From the Kitchen of Susan Baker, etc Recipes can be submitted one of three ways. You can drop off a hard copy of a recipe at either the elementary or high school office at CWC. Recipes can be ed or scanned to cwcrecipes@gmail.com. 8 Proclaiming Evidence for Truth THIS WEEK'S CREATION MOMENT Darwin s Preservation of Favored Races And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation. Acts 17:26 There seems little doubt that Charles Darwin was a racist. The full, long title of his most famous book was The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection or the Preservation of Favored Races in the Struggle for Life. In Darwin's defense, it is often argued that many English people of his time were racist. That is true, to a limited extent, but only because most people of the time had not come into contact with people of other races. Darwin had indeed met other peoples during his famous voyage on the Beagle. Darwin's view of the Fuegian people in South America, for example, was more than just European chauvinism. He wrote: "I could not have believed how wide was the difference between savage and civilised man Viewing such men, one can hardly make oneself believe that they are fellow-creatures, and inhabitants of the same world. It is a common subject of conjecture what pleasure in life some of the lower animals can enjoy: how much more reasonably the same question may be asked of these barbarians!" That Darwin's attitude was not necessarily typical is shown by the view of explorer William Parker Snow, who wrote: "Many of the Fuegians on the Eastern Islands were fine and some of them even handsome fellows. This I know to be rather different to what Mr. Darwin says of them: but I can only speak as I found, and thus mention what I myself saw." Snow knew that all people are descended from Adam.
