4 Worship Notes This morning we begin a new sermon series entitled Tough Questions. Pastor Craig will help us delve into the scripture to tackle some of those troubling questions that Christians often face. Anyone (young or old) who has a question they would like Pastor Craig to consider addressing is encouraged to submit it to him or the church office. Sunday School Teachers: please take a few moments during class today to allow your students to offer a suggestion or two. This morning s offering is for Classical Ministry Shares to support regional ministries that are designated by Classis Wisconsin. This fund currently supports a Classis Fund, a Student Fund, Classis Home Missions, Classis World Missions, Dordt College, and Trinity Christian College. This evening s offering is for the Building Fund to pay for repairs and purchases for the parsonage, church building, and church equipment, including maintenance of the buildings and grounds and any needed additions to accommodate the growing church. Verse of the Week: Job 1:20-21 At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship and said: Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised. Our Family We thank the Lord that Minnie Tobak was spared from serious injury when she fell last Sunday. She was admitted to the Waupun Memorial Hospital on Monday for fluid around her lungs and, as of Friday, was doing fairly well. Orlene Smits was hospitalized on Wednesday evening with an abdominal aneurysm that was leaking. As of Friday, the leakage had decreased somewhat and she was in good spirits. Please pray for comfort and assurance for her and the family during this difficult time. Please continue to remember the Hofman and Hartgerink families in the heavenly homecoming of Kathryn Hofman Hinkes. May you find comfort in the palm of the Lord s loving hands during this time of sorrow and celebration. 12 We call ourselves "Christian" because we belong to Jesus "Christian" Christ and want to be his followers. We recognize as fellow- Christians all people who accept the teachings of the Bible as summarized in the Apostle's Creed. We call ourselves "Reformed" because we're part of that "Reformed" historic branch of the Christian church that arose from the Protestant Reformation. We follow the teachings of 16th-century reformer, John Calvin. John Calvin sought to apply faith to all of life, and struggled to return Christianity to its biblical roots. We call ourselves "Church" because God has called us to be a "Church" fellowship of his people in the world. Our Vision With the help and presence of our living Lord, we seek to energize and transform lives and maintain the essence of the historic Reformed faith in our worship, service, and fellowship; and to pass on our faith to others.
