This year we will consider persecution. So many Christians around the world are persecuted for their faith. God tells us that persecution is good for us and we are to rejoice in it. At the same time, we are facing persecution more and more in this country. May our faith be strong enough to withstand whatever Satan throws at us. Verse of the week: You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name. Pray for her and Tyler as she is away at school. - Bob Bille who is recovering at home. Pray that his heart will stay in rhythm and there will be no more complications. - Sharry Stiemsma (Karen Aalsma s sister), has been moved to UW Rehab Hospital. From your Youth Group Students Church News You should have received an envelope in your mailbox with your Quarterly giving. This receipt is not an official yearend receipt. If you did not receive one that means that you paid with cash. Yearend receipts will be printed and handed out at the beginning of the year. Printed on the back of your receipt is a copy of the 2017 My Task Card for your information. Please prayerfully take this into consideration when giving. October is Pastor Appreciation Month. A potluck celebration is scheduled for TODAY at noon in the CWC Commons. Ham, beverages, and dessert will be provided. Please bring a hot or cold side dish to pass as well as your own table service. The congregation is invited to contribute to a gift for the pastor by placing a marked envelope in the offering plate on October 16 or 23. The congregation is invited to join Bethel CRC on the evening of October 30 as they are hosting a Reformation hymn sing. Badgerland Youth for Christ is holding its 5 th annual Comedy Café on November 1 at The Union Youth Center. We are excited to have 321 Improv bringing the entertainment this year. This fundraising event allows us to continue building relationships with young people in our community. If you are interested in being a sponsor, a table captain or attending the even go to for more information or to sign up. You may also call with any questions. SWaT (Middle School Youth Group) will be packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child on Wednesday, November 9. We are asking for help from you!! We would appreciate donations of items to place in the shoeboxes. Our goal is to pack 100 shoeboxes that night. Please check your church mailbox for the brochure and see the list as to what items can be placed in the shoebox. We will have a table set out for donations beginning on Sunday, October 23 and items maybe brought in until Sunday, November 6. If you would like to pack your own shoebox, feel free to leave it on the table as well and we will make sure it gets to the dropoff site. Tickets are $5/$6 for bleacher/floor seats, and can be reserved through the school office at (920) Salute to Veterans: Celebrate the contributions to freedom of our veterans, as Central Wisconsin Christian hosts its annual 'Salute to Veterans' on Thursday, November 10th at 2:00 PM in the Crusader Centre. All veterans in attendance will be individually recognized and honored for their service, as together we pause to remember that freedom isn't free! Please plan to attend the 5th Annual Beautiful Response Chili Supper on Tuesday, November 1st from 4:30-7:00pm at Bethel Christian Reformed Church (410 S. West St. Waupun), sponsored by the CWC Boys Soccer Program. This year commemorates Beautiful Response's 6 th year supporting Raising Up Hope in Uganda (RUHU). In those years we have been able to provide food, support, housing, and education for 70 orphans. In addition, when RUHU rescues kids from the slums in Kampala we are able to help place them in boarding schools. A further 200 children are receiving an education through RUHU s day school under the direction of amazing and dedicated volunteer teachers. Around 300 children s lives are profoundly different because of Beautiful Response s work with RUHU. Funds raised will go to ensure that all the children of RUHU continue to receive an education. 9 THIS WEEK'S CREATION MOMENT Michael Crichton on Consensus Science For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. 2 Corinthians 10:12 Darwinists and climate-change alarmists are frequently heard to say that their respective topics are a matter of "settled science." They use this term to silence critics. But is this how science is supposed to work? The late Dr. Michael Crichton, best known as the author of Jurassic Park, didn't think so. In a lecture he gave at CalTech in 2003, Crichton said, "I regard consensus science as an extremely pernicious development that ought to be stopped cold in its tracks. Historically, the claim of consensus has been the first refuge of scoundrels; it is a way to avoid debate by claiming that the matter is already settled. Whenever you hear the consensus of scientists agrees on something or other, reach for your wallet, because you're being had." Crichton wasn't done. "Let's be clear: the work of science has nothing whatever to do with consensus. Consensus is the business of politics. Science, on the contrary, requires only one investigator who happens to be right, which means that he or she has results that are verifiable by reference to the real world." Creation Moments only wishes that more scientists would heed the words of evolutionist Michael Crichton.
