Please feel free to check one of the Visitor mail slots in the narthex for additional materials. Worship Notes Nearly 500 years ago, God used Martin Luther to send a message. As Luther noted in the 95 theses nailed to the doors of a church, it is by God's grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ that the gift of salvation is granted. What an eternally assuring gift! So, we come together to celebrate and give thanks for this gift today. Next week we celebrate Mission Emphasis Sunday. Chaplain Rob Sizemore will be leading our evening worship service. Chaplain Sizemore has previously served as a church planter, he has been pastor of his own church and is currently a chaplain. The service will start at 6:00 PM here at First CRC. The first offering is for the Education Fund to pay for Christian Education at CWC for the children of the congregation. The second offering is for Denominational Ministry Shares supports national and worldwide ministries as designated by Synod. This fund currently supports Back to God Ministries International, Calvin College, Calvin Theological Seminary, Faith Alive Resources, Christian Reformed Home Missions, Christian Reformed World Missions, Specialized Ministries, Denominational Services, The Network, and Special Assistance A basket is located in the back of the sanctuary for the evening offering. The evening offering for the month of October will go to the Local Budget. We are looking at focusing on prayer in all aspects of our ministry. As a part of this Pastor Craig would like to assemble a team who will spend regular time in prayer together for our church and will brainstorm how we might better incorporate prayer into our congregational life. If you are interested or you know someone who is a prayer warrior please contact Craig. None of our planning will mean anything if we are not blanketing it in prayer. The worship committee is still looking for your favorite songs. If you haven't written down a song that you like to sing in worship please do so. There are slips of paper and a basket on the shelf across from the mailboxes in the narthex. This evening's worship service will begin at 6:50 with a time of singing. Christian Fellowship will meet on Thursday, November 1 at 6:30 p.m. It is time to begin thinking about Operation Christmas Child! Sharing the Good News of God s love with hurting boys and girls is at the heart of Operation Christmas Child. They plan on reaching their 100 millionth child this Season. Please refer to the brochure in your mailbox for instructions and ideas of what to put in the boxes. We will be collecting the boxes on Sunday, November 18 in the basement. Thanks for your support in this ministry.

6 The Video Committee is still looking for additional volunteers. We would like help in preparing the PowerPoint slides each week, which is a commitment of 1-2 hours every 6-8 weeks. We are also looking for anyone willing to run the PowerPoint during services. If you have any questions or are interested in helping in either area, talk to Lois, Katie, Mike, or Randall. SWaT Scavenger hunt is on again this fall. SWaT members will be collecting items for the Waupun Food Pantry on Wednesday, November 14th. Some of the items we will be hunting for are canned goods, pastas, any non-perishables, health/beauty items, coats and winter gear (for all ages), and clothing. If you would like a SWaT group to stop by your house on this night please contact Becky Vander Werff at Last year we were able to donate over 500 lbs. of food, let's see if we can beat that this year!!! SWaT members please note change in start time. We will be having supper from 5:45 to 6:00 and then start the scavenger hunt at 6:00. We will conclude at 8:00 instead of 7:30. You are welcome to gather supplies before the night of the hunt and bring them in for your team. Senior Supper will be postponed at this time due to conflicts. A future date will be announced, watch for more details to come. SAVE THE DATE Monday night, November 5th is MOPS Tip Night at the Waupun Pizza Ranch. Please consider coming out in support of our local ministry! Winter Retreat forms along with a $20 deposit are due in to Dominique by November 7, As part of our support for the Christian Home we have been leading chapel services a few times each year on weekdays. We are currently looking for someone to make arrangements for these services. You do not have to lead them but would need to find someone to lead them. The residents love this chapel time. Tastefully Simple is a great gift for many ladies this upcoming holiday season and orders will arrive with plenty of time for Christmas. The Cadets will be having their opening Cadet pumpkin carving at Josh Boss Farm on Wednesday, October 31 from 6:30-8:00. Food and drink will

7 be provided, just bring your pumpkin carving skills. You can drop off and pick up your boys at the farm. Cadets is for boys Grades 4-8, boys you are encouraged to bring a friend. If you have questions contact John Bronkhorst at Community Happenings CWC Craftathon: On November 2 & 3. The CWC Junior class will again be hosting the CWC Craftathon. Two great days to get together with friends or family members and get those crafting items done. You may borrow items and supplies from consultants as well as purchase items they have on hand. New this year is an option for vendors to bring in items to sell. You can purchase a table to set up your items for $10 for one day or $20 for two days. A registration form can be found on the CWC Website under the Parent Central Link at the bottom (followed by the Crusader Weekly.) Dodgeball action begins at 4:00, with the free-will donation Spaghetti Supper at 4:30. Details, registration form, and more can be found at check it out on Facebook, or call the office at Christian Home & Rehab need: Thank you for the generous response to our fund-raising appeal to purchase two critically needed therapeutic bathtubs for The Christian Home! The first tub has been purchased and is being used. A generous donor has given$9,000 jump start the campaign to get the second $14,800 tub purchased! The Board is now looking to the church community to come up with the remaining $5,800 for the second tub. If you can help meet this goal, just indicate you want your gift designated for the tub fund at the Christian Home. Thank you! Fond du Lac Area Youth for Christ will be hosting a Comedy Cafe Fundraiser October 29 in Fond du Lac, October 30 in Waupun & October 31 in Beaver Dam. This event helps to raise fun-ds for the ministries we have available to the youth of our communities. This year we will be having a dessert buffet, sided with coffee and cider. 10 Greetings to my Brothers and Sisters in Jesus Christ We ve taken these up and down steps before. In over the two and a half years since diagnosis just about when it was decided that one direction has taken place the cancer would do another one-hundred and eighty degree spin while each step brings new depths of learning. About three weeks ago the cancer marched downward and that hasn t changed. If anything it has steadfastly maintained its downward spiral. In the process almost everything has been set aside as Neen, Angel and I deal with evermore basic things like eating and breathing and my normal mental functions, As for the ministry we have developed an inmate correspondence connection that seems to be working well. Although final results are yet to be determined it has been well received. In a nutshell I m still writing but Neen has now become correspondence and creative attendee converting each new lesson to the local dialect and getting them off to our appointed relay in each prison. This stopgap measure seems to be working well even though much has yet to the best we ve even been able to determine has ever been conceived before. All of that plus all the other things included here give us plenty of prayer thought. In those prayers please remember Neen who in wading through a great deal of new water. The outreach to the poor families (The Benevolent Fund) continues to grow and in fact is drowning. God is good and his graciousness beams through it all and all of us are benefactors. Indeed so are all of you as you continue to stand with us and thank Him and as we give Him thanks for the many of you. Bro Bob
