For more information contact: or visit Experience the peace and love of Our Lady of Medjugorje May 10 21, 2018 BIRTHRIGHT of Ballston Spa needs office volunteers to assist young women by listening to their concerns, helping with a selfadministered pregnancy test, reviewing fetal development, & offering info on local community services. Birthright volunteers are compassionate, reliable, & dedicated to a 4hour weekly commitment. The next 3part training session will be held on Mondays: April 9, 16, 23, 9:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. If you are prolife & can listen without judging, please call Susan at for info. The Catholic Relief Services Collection (CRSC) will be taken up this weekend, March 10/11. Funds from this collection help provide food to the hungry, support to displaced refugees, and bring Christ s love and mercy to all people here at home and abroad. Next week, please give generously to the CRSC, and help Jesus in disguise. Mass Times During Lent Daily mass (Mon Fri) during Lent at St. Mary s, Ballston Spa, is at 12:10 pm. Stations of the Cross are every Friday during Lent at 12 noon preceding the 12:10 PM Mass! Fast & Abstinence Ash Wednesday & Good Friday are days of fast & abstinence. As a sign of our penance, we preserve for the Diocese of Albany the custom of abstinence from meat on the Fridays of Lent. Abstinence binds all Catholics who are 14 years of age & older. Fast binds all Catholics who are 18 years of age but not yet 59. Fasting refers to the quantity of food eaten. Traditionally, fasting calls for only one full meal per day. By retaining these traditions for our Diocese we do not intend that they be interpreted as laws binding under pain of sin, but as customs from which we will not hold ourselves lightly excused. They are expressions of our desire to be converted in our hearts, to be reconciled with each other, & to love our neighbor. Communal Penance Service The cluster communal penance celebration will be held at St. Peter s Church in Saratoga on Thursday, March 15, 6:30 pm 7:30 pm. Protect Life Please sign the letter that is addressed to a NYS senator, & put it in the white box as you leave Mass today. Our governor tried to get this antilife item passed several years ago in a 10point women s legislation plan. The other nine issues have become laws since then. This S.7511 is lethal, & needs to be defeated completely. Encouraging & funding death does not bode well in families & for communities. Our upstate area of NYS has beautiful scenery but subsidizes deathoriented legislation. Please pray for God s blessings. St. Mary s School Lynn Fitzgerald, Principal Ongoing Registration Grades PreK5/(518) Sunday, March 18, St. Mary s auditorium This presentation will focus on the historical, artistic, & spiritual dimension of the gospels, particularly when viewed in parallel & cross gospel relationships. When viewed this way, the individual portraits & emphases of each evangelist emerge. The presentation will conclude with a special treatment of the Passion in the gospel of John where his particular portrait, theology, & spirituality of the Passion is revealed. Marcus Gigliotti has a Theology & biblical degrees from Gregorian University & Pontifical Biblical Institute, Rome, Italy. He is an adjunct professor of biblical studies at St Bernard s School of Theology & Ministry & Siena College. Health Ministry: WAKING UP Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of thelhas risen upon you. ~ Isaiah 60:1 The following are eight things healthy people do when waking up 1. Drink A Glass Of Water As Soon As You Wake Up This rehydrates your body, revs up your digestive system, and gets things flowing. You may notice positive changes like clearer skin and better digestion. Bonus points if you add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice or a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar alkalinizes blood, which is a good thing! 2. Do Not Check Your Or Phone For At Least An Hour Do you sleep with your cell phone next to you and grab for it first thing when you wake? This is not a good habit. If you choose to resist the temptation to check your and Facebook feed until at least an hour after waking up, you'll find that your mind is more clear, focused and happy. 3. Think Of One Thing For Which You Have Gratitude This sets the stage for positivity throughout the day. If you come up with three or five things, even better 4. Step Outside And Take A Deep Breath Fill your lungs with fresh air even if it s cold outside. This only takes 10 seconds! It reminds you that you are alive and breathing. 5. Move Your Body You don t necessarily have to do an intense workout before breakfast, but moving your body even a little is a great way to get the blood flowing and shake the body into wakeup mode. Simply doing a few stretches is a great option. Or turn on your favorite song and dance like no one is watching. 6. Take Time To Eat A Healthy Breakfast Rather than reaching for a box of cereal, focus on getting real foods in your body. Eggs, soaked oats, and smoothies are all great options. (And they really don t take that much time to prepare.) Try it out. 7. Say Your Affirmations Look into the mirror and say something positive to yourself. Some ideas ~I radiate beauty, confidence and grace. ~Every cell in my body is healthy and vibrant. ~I feel great when I take care of myself. 8. Prayer and Meditation Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be will be yours. ~ Mark 11:24 Pray without ceasing. ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:17 Daily Prayer to the Holy Spirit Most Holy Spirit, Beloved of my soul, I do adore thee. Enlighten me, strengthen me, guide me. Comfort me, console me. I do promise to submit myself to all you do desire of me And permit all you wish to happen to me. Give me your orders, tell me what to do. Most Holy Spirit, Bring peace to the world. Amen
