Each October, this celebration leads us to the heart of our Christian faith leads us to mission, as Pope Francis explains. On this day, we are called as baptized Catholics to celebrate and support local churches in Asia and Africa, the Pacific Islands, and parts of Latin America and Europe, an area that covers more than half the territory of the globe. Through the work and witness of mission priests, religious and lay leaders, the poor receive practical help and experience God s love and mercy, His hope and peace. Please be generous. Thank you Memorial Mass: The Funeral Ministry/ Bereavement Support Team will be honoring all who have died this year at a Memorial Mass on Saturday, Nov. 4th, at10:00 a.m. at St. Mary s Church in Galway followed by a reception in the social hall. All parishioners who have lost a loved one are invited to attend this celebration of remembrance and prayer. Not only are lives saved, but those who have lost babies will talk from their hearts. Some real moments of grace occur. There are a few people who also pray and witness at the Saratoga Springs Planned Parenthood on Fridays. That office refers to Glens Falls or Schenectady for surgical abortions. Our 24th Bake Sale for the children in Haiti, on Sat. & Sun., Nov. 11/12, at St. Mary s School after all the masses. Proceeds to benefit the orphans at the Cardinal Stepanic s Children Center in Haiti. Many baked items are needed gooey cakes, pies, brownies, cupcakes, breads your favorite pastries! Items may be left at school before the masses, starting at 2 pm on Saturday & ending at 12 noon on Sunday. Volunteers are needed to assist in several areas listed below. PLEASE HELP US Many hands make light work! 1. Greeters to welcome all who come to mass with a smile & offer a bulletin. We are looking for at least 4 volunteers men, women &/or children. Volunteers need to arrive 15 minute before mass. 2. Altar Servers grades 3 to 12. We need at least 8 volunteers boys &/or girls. Training will be provided. It s a great opportunity for young people to assist the celebrant in serving the Lord. 3. Counters to count the collections after mass. We need at least 8 volunteers men &/or women. Training will be provided. It s about an hour of your time after mass. We need enough volunteers to rotate these duties. Please pray about giving some of your time to our parish. It s greatly needed. M M C, G, NY Health Ministry: Weight Loss Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. ~1 Corinthians 10:31 Weight gain is a common complaint. One of the problems is our lifestyle. We have busy lives with lots of stress, not enough sleep, junk foods &/or zero exercise or physical activities. So we become overweight. Perhaps, you might consider changing some of your habits. Following are 5 simple tips that you can make into habits that could help you lose excess weight. 1. Cut out Sugar, Oil & Junk from your life: Maybe you love to eat sweets & chocolates, deepfried dishes & junk foods. Relax, you are not going to drop them all forever, just remove them from your eating list for the next 30 days. Eating sugar, oil & junk foods are some of the main reasons we gain weight. 2. Do 2 simple exercises for 5 minutes just after waking up: Leg Raise Exercise: Raise slowly both legs together at a 45 degree angle from the ground; hold for 5 counts & lower them slowly. This is one repetition. Rest for 5 sec & do it again. Do 1 set of 810 repetitions daily 5 times a week & after first week 2 sets daily for 5 times a week. Cycling Exercise: This is simple & fun to do. You just need to cycle in the air with both legs by lifting legs in front at 45 degrees. Make 10 circles & count it as 1 set. Do 1 set of 810 circles daily 5 times a week & after first week 2 sets daily for 5 times a week. Success follows consistency, so do it daily for 5 min for 30 days. 3. Laughing out loud at least 34 times a day is known to decrease stress: Stress plays a negative role in our lives & it is one of the main reasons behind excessive eating habits. A stressful person eats more than a happy person. Try to stay happy by laughing out loud with family or friends 34 times every day. Laughing is one of the best exercises & reduces stress. Laughing for no reason when alone is known to work just as well. Remember, most of the time, this too shall pass. If it doesn t, seek help from a professional. 4. Drink hot water throughout the day for next 15 days: Drinking hot water is very effective by burning your stored fat & cleaning your body every time you drink hot water. It increases your metabolism & improves your digestive power which helps you to lose weight. 5. Try to be active in the office or at home: Don t sit for long periods. Try walking breaks. Use stairs. Park your cars a longer distance from the store when you go shopping. Take an evening walk to work out the stresses of the day. Consistency & persistence are the keys to success.
