FATHERHOOD: Deep in the heart of the Catholic man generally is a love for Mary, Jesus mother. This love yields a view of something special beyond selfcentered values. Another source is former minister Steve Wood s Family Life Center, located in Greenville, SC, on the internet at dads.org. For the men who choose celibacy, please become an ordained Father. We need you! 2016 Bishop s Appeal Through this important Appeal, we follow the example of Christ to serve our brothers and sisters here in the Diocese of Albany. By joining together in stewardship, we proclaim our unity to all; thereby letting those who need us the most know that they are an important part of our Catholic family. Please be as generous as you possibly can in responding to the Bishop s Appeal. Catholic Communication Campaign: FAITH WORSHIP WITNESS This weekend, at the Masses of June 18/19, parishes in the Diocese of Albany will take up the Annual Collection for the Catholic Communication Campaign. This collection helps the Church communicate the Gospel through Catholic social media activities and enriches our faith through print and electronic media. Half of all proceeds remain in our diocese to support local needs, so please be generous in this collection. In our diocese we are able to provide television, radio, print and social media materials that spread the Good News of Christ s abiding love for each and every one of us. Let us pray as a community that the Good News of the Gospel will continue to be spread by wise use of communications technology.please be generous! St. Mary s School Lynn Fitzgerald, Principal Ongoing Registration Grades PreK5/ (518) St. Mary s School The school year has come to an end for our St. Mary s students. We are blessed to have had another successful school year. We are sad to see our 5th grade graduates leave, but know they are ready to take on the challenges ahead. The strong foundation of a St. Mary s education has prepared them well for the next phase of academics, socialization and emotional development. They are equipped to work collaboratively, creatively solve problems, and make positive decisions in their lives. Their faith, which has been lived and celebrated every day at St. Mary s School, will remain in them and the Holy Spirit will guide them always. We wish our 5th graders much love and happiness as they embark on the next adventure of their lives! Faith FormationHappy Father s Day! Saint Joseph, guardian of Jesus and chaste husband of Mary, you passed your life in loving fulfillment of duty. You supported the holy family of Nazareth with the work of your hands. Kindly protect those who trustingly come to you. You know their aspirations, their hardships, their hopes. They look to you because they know you will understand and protect them. You too knew trial, labour and weariness. But amid the worries of material life, your soul was full of deep peace and sang out in true joy through intimacy with God s Son entrusted to you and with Mary, his tender Mother. Assure those you protect that they do not labour alone. Teach them to find Jesus near them and to watch over Him faithfully as you have done. Amen. S. Health Ministry A Father s Day Prayer Father, we ask that you bless those fathers who have striven to balance the demands of work, marriage, and children with an honest awareness of both joy and sacrifice. Let us praise those fathers who, lacking a good model for a father, have worked to become a good father. Father, we ask that you bless those fathers who by their own account were not always there for their children, but who continue to offer those children, now grown, their love and support. Let us pray for those fathers who have been wounded by the neglect and hostility of their children. Father, we ask that you bless those fathers who, despite divorce, have remained in their children's lives. Let us praise those fathers whose children are adopted, and whose love and support has offered healing. Father, we ask that you bless those fathers who, as stepfathers, freely choose the obligation of fatherhood and earned their step children's love and respect. Let us praise those fathers who have lost a child to death, and continue to hold the child in their heart. Father, we ask that you bless those men who have no children, but cherish the next generation as if they were their own. Father, we ask that you bless those men who have "fathered" us in their role as mentors and guides. Father, we ask that you bless those men who are about to become fathers; may they openly delight in their children. And Father, we ask that you bless those fathers who have died, but live on in our memory and whose love continues to nurture us. What Makes a Dad God took the strength of a mountain, The majesty of a tree, The warmth of a summer sun, The calm of a quiet sea, The generous soul of nature, The comforting arm of night, The wisdom of the ages, The power of the eagle's flight, The joy of a morning in spring, The faith of a mustard seed, The patience of eternity, The depth of a family in need, Then God combined these qualities, When there was nothing more to add, He knew His masterpiece was complete, And so, He called it... Dad HAPPY FATHER S DAY TO ALL OUR MEN May they forever be blessed with God s Grace.
