Housing was cheaper, college didn t mean taking out a second mortgage, and there was more time for family and friends. Today the best a person can wish for is organized chaos. All this points to our lack of something: Hope. Our readings today point to what hope is and where we can find it in our lives. 1

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. I. 5 NEXT SUNDAY AT SAINT ANDREW S PRAYER PARTNERS FOR LENT: Praying for someone else is a blessing to another person as well as enriching to our own spiritual journey. By praying for members of our faith community, we become closer. This year you will have the opportunity to make a request for prayers for a special need. You may also pray for your partner s health and spiritual journey through Lent. February 22 - March 29 EXPLORING LUTHERAN BELIEFS: HOLY COMMUNION Presenter: Pastor Telyea 301/Fellowship Hall North In August 2013 at the ELCA Churchwide Assembly a memorial was adopted which asked: Should Holy Communion be administered only to the baptized? Should a change in the administration of Holy Communion be recommended and implemented in ELCA congregations, it would represent a drastic change in current and historic Lutheran sacramental policy. For this reason I have been convinced it is time to study what Lutherans believe, teach and confess about Holy Communion.
