5 NEXT SUNDAY AT SAINT ANDREW S HEALING PRAYERS are offered during the distribution of Holy Communion on the third Sunday of each month. Trained healing ministers will receive your requests before or after receiving the Eucharist. It can be especially meaningful to have a laying on of hands and an anointing of oil, if desired. It is appropriate to bring ANY request or concern that you may have for yourself or someone else. These may be prayers for emotional, spiritual, or physical healing. It can be a peace that brings wholeness, according to God s will, in a number of ways. If you are unable to walk to the kneelers, please ask an usher to assist or move to the bottom of the stairs on the East side of the sanctuary (near the pulpit) and the Healing Minister will come to you. WORSHIP SERVICE CAPTIONING: Please note that next Sunday s worship service will not be captioned. Our next captioned service is Sunday, February 7, at 11:00 am. YOUTH EDUCATION MINISTRIES (SUNDAYS AT 9:45 AM) SUNDAY CHURCH SCHOOL (age 2 through grade 5): All children are invited to join our Sunday Church School classes, held during the Education Hour at 9:45 am. All classes meet downstairs in the Education Wing. Two-year olds through Kindergarten students begin each Sunday with Music in Room 106. The SCS office is located on the lower level near the narthex stairs. Students who are new to our congregation are asked to come to the SCS office to register and receive a class assignment. Our theme is Luke, from the Inside Out. This Tuesday, we continue our study of Jesus interactions with the Pharisee and begin to look into the parables, Luke 11:29-12:59. We began our study on the mount of the Transfiguration, Luke 9:28-36, and continued to listen to Jesus words about the cost of discipleship, Luke 9: Then, the sending of the seventy to be in mission, Luke 10:1-24, the Parable of the Good Samaritan and Jesus teachings on prayer, Luke 10:25-11:28, and Jesus being challenged by the Pharisees, Luke 11:14--12:12. Bring your favorite translation and join in the fun. YOUTH AND FAMILY MINISTRIES SUMMER 2016 MISSION TRIPS: Next Summer, both Fire Force and God Squad will go on Mission Trips. 7 Y EASTSIDE WINTER SHELTERS: The Eastside Winter Shelters are run by Congregations for the Homeless (CFH), and the Sophia Way in partnership with Catholic Community Services. CFH s shelter is for single, adult men, and the Sophia Way/CCS shelter accepts all women, with or without children, as well as fathers with children. People who visit are provided with a hot meal and a safe place to sleep. The shelter for men is in need of blankets and towels, which can be brought to the CFH offices (located at Saint Andrew s.) Y MAASAE GIRLS SCHOOL GRADUATE BEGINS UNIVERSITY: Tuesday Morning Men and Saint Andrew s Men s Ministry (SAM) have supported Naishiye Eliakimu since she began MaaSAE Girls Lutheran Secondary School (MGLSS), and feel led to continue to support her education as she begins studies at the University of Dar es Salaam, Mkwara Branch, in Iringa, Tanzania. the total needed for next year is over $2000.
