6 SUNDAY DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING (9:45 AM) May 22 HERE AGAIN; THERE AGAIN Presenters: Jean Wahlstrom and Marvin Kananen 301/Fellowship Hall North Here again; there again, an apt description of two of our major vagrants who claim membership at Saint Andrew s Lutheran. Jean and Marvin will report on their four months in Tanzania last year at the School of Nursing and other projects, their time with the Navajo this year, and their four months in Arizona this year (without mentioning golf or Spring Training). There will be a brief history of their work at the Maasae Girls Lutheran Secondary School as ELCA missionaries and why Saint Andrew s is so wonderfully invested in the school. Join them for pictures and conversation. EARLY SUNDAY DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRIES (8:15 AM) Sundays, June 12 through July 24 1 THESSALONIANS Facilitators: Jean Wahlstrom and Marvin Kananen 322/Conference Room Mark your calendar! You are invited to be encouraged and exhorted through a Bible study of the Letters from Paul to the Thessalonians, led by Jean Wahlstrom and Marvin Kananen. It will be held for seven weeks this summer, every Sunday from June 12 to July 24, before the 9:30 am worship service. Coffee and minor snacks provided. DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRIES...DURING THE WEEK TUESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY Presenter: Pastor McEachran Every Tuesday, 9:30 am, 322/Conference Room This Tuesday, we conclude our study of Jude and share our Letters to the Church in the 21st Century. Then, to conclude before we pause for the summer, we will spend three weeks looking at the themes of the minor prophets and specifically on one of Pastor McEachran s favorites of the Minor Prophets, Haggai. He is a post-exile prophet who urges the people to return to their roots of worship and to rebuild the Temple. In the midst of the difficult past in exile, a prophet who may have seen the Temple of Solomon as a young boy, is used by God to reassure the people of God that they are not forgotten and forsaken. In time of uncertainty and fear, when the people of God are tempted just to give up and give in, they are called, equipped, and kept to return the place they remember where life begins with worship and God will meet us where God is found, in the midst of those who remember what it is to life with praise and thanksgiving. Our final class before a summer break will be June 14. We will resume on Tuesday, September 13, with a 12-week study of Acts of the Apostles through the lives of Peter and Paul. As always, bring your favorite translation and invite a friend! 6 DISCIPLESHIP MINISTRIES...YOUTH SUMMER 2016 MISSION TRIPS: This summer, both Fire Force and God Squad will go on Mission Trips.
