W E L C O M E TODAY AT SAINT ANDREW S WALK TO JERUSALEM: Some of us remember the Walk to Jerusalem 2006 in which Saint Andrew s participated. We re walking to Jerusalem again starting June 1 and ending August 31! Of course you don t have to walk by yourself. We ll add up the miles we earn with aerobic exercise and use a map to plot our progress. Sign-ups start TODAY, May 25 and participants will receive a packet of information on exercise, mileage cards, maps, and a schedule for guided walks. We will turn in our mileage cards on Sundays at our table in the narthex or we can record them online. You can count a mile for each 20 minutes of walking, swimming, biking, soccer, or other aerobic exercise, or use a pedometer or smart phone App to track your mileage. Consider joining us for a journey that is spiritual as we focus our minds on our walk in faith toward Jerusalem. We will also enjoy healthy exercise and fellowship as we walk together to Jerusalem 2014! We will end our journey with a virtual tour of Jerusalem, a picnic at Lake Sammamish, and a bookmark that says I walked to Jerusalem 2014! 4

5 NEXT SUNDAY AT SAINT ANDREW S ORCHESTRA SUNDAY: The orchestra will play during both the 8:30 am and 11:00 am worship services next Sunday, June 1. Rehearsal will be Saturday, May 31, at 10:00 am. CHILDREN AND YOUTH EDUCATION MINISTRIES (9:45 AM) SUNDAY CHURCH SCHOOL (SCS): All children age 2 through Grade 5 are invited to join our Sunday Church School. Classes meet at 9:45 am every Sunday morning. The 2- and 3-yearolds meet in the nursery. All other classes meet downstairs in the education wing. If you are new to Saint Andrew's, please come to the SCS office located near the bottom of the stairs and we'll help you locate your class. Next Sunday, June 1, is the last day of Sunday Church School classes. Kids need unconditional love. At this Vacation Bible School (VBS), they will get both! Kids will know that Jesus loves them unconditionally and will be inspired to love others the same way! A study of a letter once described by Martin Luther as among the books that Show you Christ and teach you all that is necessary and salvatory for you to know, even if you were never to see or hear any other book or doctrine. 7 CHRISTIAN EDUCATION CHRISTIAN EDUCATION TRANSITIONS: The Staff Transition Task Force (STTF) is assessing the staffing needs of Saint Andrew s with regards to Christian Education. They have had conversations with leaders of Christian Education programs and other areas of ministry, and look forward to gathering input from the congregation. During the month of June, Saint Andrew s members will have opportunities to share their ideas regarding the Christian Education position with the Staff Transition Task Force. There will be a Listening Post on Sunday, June 15, at 10:45 am, a time to share updates about the progress of the committee plus the opportunity for the congregation to give input. Another way of communicating ideas will be via post-it notes found along the narthex hallway as you enter the church. There will be topic headings posted on the windows and spaces to post individual ideas beneath them from June 15-June 29. Along with the Post-It notes and Listening Post, there will be a Survey that can be answered online or via hard copy. The STTF looks forward to your participation and input. The Staff Transition Task Force members are Lynn Mack, chair, David Holmes, Dee Johnson, Jean Wahlstrom, Claudia Browers, and Lois Nelson, Council Liaison. 8 Y MAASAE GIRLS SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS: Operation Bootstrap Africa is seeking sponsors for students at MaaSAE Girls Lutheran Secondary School (MGLSS) in Tanzania. As of April 2014, sponsors are still needed for: Form 1 14 full Form 4 7 half Form 3 2 half Form 5 1 half Full sponsorships are $900 each; half sponsorships are $450. Also, for MGLSS graduates at Teacher College (trains a primary school teacher), 2 half scholarships at $600 each are needed. 9 Ì BUILDING AND PROPERTY PROJECTS for the CONGREGATION: Our current projects are: Turn on the irrigation systems: Takes about three hours. Involves opening valves and testing the system for leaks and proper water flow. Pressure wash the playground equipment: Takes about two hours.
