Summer Sermon Series 2012 Have you ever wondered how God is calling you? Or questioned where your place is in the world? Do you sometimes feel like you go through the motions without purpose? These are serious questions and they deserve serious answers. At the core of these questions is the issue of vocation. What is God calling you to do?

2 APOSTLES CREED I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. 4 THE FLOWERS are given to the glory of God by Karen and Jeff Laub in honor of their 17th wedding anniversary. HEALING PRAYERS are offered during the distribution of Holy Communion. Kneelers are provided on the east and west sides of the sanctuary. Trained healing ministers are waiting to receive your requests before or after receiving the Eucharist. It can be especially meaningful to have a laying on of hands and an anointing of oil, if desired. It is appropriate to bring ANY request or concern that you may have for yourself or someone else. These may be prayers for emotional, spiritual, or physical healing. It can be a peace that brings wholeness, according to God s will, in a number of ways. THE GATHERING AND MISSION TRIP SUNDAY: Today, the high school Gathering Team who went to New Orleans and the middle school Mission Team who served the Yakama Nation lead worship and host the fellowship time following worship. They invite you to stay after worship to hear more about their service and how their trips shaped their lives. JOANNA SZABO: Thank you to Joanna Szabo for going above and beyond in her work in Youth and Family Ministries this summer. Her energy and enthusiasm gave joy to our youth all summer W E L C O M E t o d a y A T S A I N T A N D R E W S long. We thanked her during worship last Sunday; she will be honored during the fellowship time today. Please join us in thanking her. SUMMER SERMON SERIES: Lord, Where Do I Fit In? We continue our 10-week summer sermon series of faith stories about how God calls his people. For more O U T R E A C H M I N I S T R I E S information contact EFP, , or visit Y THE SOPHIA WAY SHELTER: The Sophia Way is very happy to announce that they are close to beginning building a new shelter for homeless women at St. Luke s Lutheran Church in Bellevue. Sophia s Place will provide overnight shelter for 21 homeless women as well as an open shelter during the day for additional homeless women. They will need items such as twin sheet sets, blankets, mirrors, night stands, lamps, bath mats, surge protectors, mattress pads, laundry baskets, and shower caddies. They are also asking for donations of funds to purchase the following items in bulk: twin mattresses, pillow and mattress protectors, and wardrobe storage lockers. Please see the list posted on bulletin board in the narthex or call Leslie Miller, , extension 110, to select your donation. This is a great opportunity to be part of setting up a larger shelter with more convenience, safety, and comfort. 5

Ì MUSIC MINISTRY TRANSITION: The Music Transition Team has completed the informationgathering and first résumé review phases of work. A position description is completed and the position is posted on the Saint Andrew s Lutheran Church website, jobs.salchome.org. Initial interviews are being conducted. The interview team includes David Anderson, Marie Bean, Jim Davis, Stephanie Lester, Pastor McEachran and Pastor Telyea. The Transition Team members are Aaron Davis, Tom Getzinger, Stephanie Lester, Linda Powell 6 and Dan Johnson, Chair. We ask for your continued prayers and support. Ì BUILDING AND PROPERTY PROJECTS OF THE MONTH: The Building and Property committee maintains a list of tasks that need to be done around the church building and grounds.
