I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. I. BLESSING OF QUILTS II. Faith Stepping Stones offers a series of classes to assist parents in fulfilling their promises made at baptism to 1) teach the Lord s Prayer and Ten Commandments; 2) place the Holy Scriptures in the hands of their children; and 3) provide instruction in Christian faith so the children may lead a holy life. STEWARDSHIP 2015 has included an emphasis on each of our ministry areas. Our final piece of the puzzle is Health and Wholeness Ministry, whose mission is To be a Christ-centered partnership of health professionals and other members of Saint Andrew s committed to promoting spiritual, physical and emotional health and wholeness. During Lent, we collected items used to assemble Personal Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief. These kits are distributed around the world to those in need of basic hygiene supplies. Each kit contains a bath towel, two bars of soap, a toothbrush, a comb, and nail clippers. Thanks to your donations, we assembled 187 kits! Health and Wholeness Ministry 187 Personal Care Kits were assembled for Lutheran World Relief CHILDREN AND YOUTH EDUCATION MINISTRIES (9:45 AM) SUNDAY CHURCH SCHOOL (SCS): All children ages 2 through Grade 5 are invited to join our Sunday Church School classes every Sunday morning at 9:45 am. The 2- and 3-year-olds meet in 210/Nursery; all other classes are downstairs in the Education Wing. 2-year-olds through Kindergarten begin each Sunday with Music in Room 106. AFFIRMATION OF BAPTISM/ CONFIRMATION: Classes for those in grades 6-8 meet in the Education Wing on Sunday mornings at 9:45 am. Those students new to our congregation are asked to contact Pastor Telyea or Nona Gram, Interim Coordinator of Christian Education. CROSSWALK (grades 9-12): Join us every Sunday morning at 9:45 am on the couch side of the Youth Room. This year we are using Augsburg s Animate to explore topics on the Bible, Faith, and Faith Practices. 5
6 ADULT SUNDAY EDUCATION MINISTRIES (9:45 AM) April 26 STEPPING INTO PRAYER (Faith Stepping Stones for Parents of 2-Year-Olds) Facilitators: Lois Nelson, Kari Henderson 322/Conference Room We focus on how parents and children can pray together at home. Simple prayer pillows, presented during the 11:00 am worship service today, were made for the children. Parents and children participate in an activity on sharing prayer ideas to be placed on prayer cards for the prayer pillows. May 10 HEALTH AND WHOLENESS MINISTRY presents A DISCUSSION ABOUT CANCER Presenter: Dr. John Hansen 301/Fellowship Hall North This presentation, by Saint Andrew s member Dr. John Hansen, features the book The Emperor of All Maladies by Siddhartha Mukherjee. Dr. Hansen will discuss: What is Cancer? The Cancer problem, the public health prospective April 26 and May 3 - incidence and mortality statistics THE ANATOMY OF JOY: Studying the Text Cancer risk - the environment and life style for the Sermon on May 10 Cancer screening and prevention Presenter: Pastor Timothy Weber Cancer treatment and outcomes 301/Fellowship Hall North Dr. Hansen graduated from the University of These two sessions will study the sermon text Minnesota and received his MD degree from for Sunday, May 10, which is the Gospel Lesson Stanford University. Prayer and meditation on scripture is an important aspect of Christian life. A lot of religions in the world use prayer and meditation as a way of spiritual renewal. How are Christians using prayer and meditation to further their relationship with God? How can we worship God not only on Sunday services but each and every day? 6 schoolers.

We will talk about the difference between Guys and Girls and what love really is. You will have the opportunity to ask your Pastor questions about what the Bible says and does not say about sex. You will also have the opportunity to anonymously ask questions that will be answered by the group. We will follow up with a workshop in the fall for both parents and students led by the Reverend Tim Weber. Y GROCERY DELIVERER: Imagine Housing has partnered with the Issaquah Food Bank for a program called Groceries-to-Go, assisting those who in need to the food they need to stay healthy. As the Grocery Deliverer you pick up pre-made grocery bags from the Issaquah Food Bank and deliver them to residents at Imagine Housing properties in Issaquah. Then gather the next week s orders and bring them to the Resident Support Specialist. Volunteers are needed on Wednesdays from 8:00 am - 10:00 am. Training and ongoing support is provided. The potluck follows the regular monthly gathering of Dorcas Circle. They meet on Tuesday, May 5, at 9:30 am to sew quilts, school bags, and complete other projects in response to those in need. We invite you to come enjoy these two exceptional choirs! The concert is free and open to the public. The University Singers is a women s ensemble. They present an annual Sounds of Christmas concert during the Christmas season. They also tour annually in the Spring. The University Chorale participates in Christmas concerts and tours annually.
