2 HYMN OF THE DAY ELW Hymn 676 Lord, Speak to Us, That We May Speak APOSTLES CREED A We confess our faith in the words of the Apostles Creed. I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. THE PRAYERS A Hear us, O God. Your mercy is great. THE PEACE The peace of the Lord be with you always. And also with you. (shared in community) OFFERING What a Friend We Have in Jesus [Joseph Scriven] David Mills What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry ev rything to God in prayer! Oh, what peace we often forfeit; oh, what needless pain we bear-- all because we do not carry ev rything to God in prayer! Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged--take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our ev ry weakness--take it to the Lord in prayer. Are we weak and heavy-laden, cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our refuge--take it to the Lord in prayer. Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer. In his arms he ll take and shield you; you will find a solace there. (congregation stands) OFFERTORY VERSE OFFERTORY PRAYER 2
