Anointing of the Sick Please feel free to call the parish office if you would like to have an Eucharistic home visit by one of our parish ministers of the sick. Communion for Sick and Homebound Parishioners Please call the parish offices if you would like to receive Communion we will make the arrangements with the Eucharistic Ministers to the Sick. If You Should Experience the Loss of a Loved One Please call the parish offices. If you feel you will be in need, or your loved one has passed, our Bereavement Ministers will assist in making arrangements with your chosen funeral directors and offer you helpful guidelines that will aid in the Liturgical planning of the Mass or Memorial Service. We know that this can be a tough time and we want you to know that your parish is there for you.

Was baptized Catholic as a child, but has not celebrated the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist? We offer an opportunity to come together in a small group to learn more about our faith. Sessions focus on the teachings and experience of Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist during the Easter season. You are welcome to participate in the process with your questions, your insights and your faith story in a warm accepting setting. For information please contact Trish Swords at drehrsj@gmail.com THE HOPE AND PROMISE OF REDEMPTION The prophet Jeremiah prophesies the end of the Babylonian exile. He describes how the weak and sorrowful people now return with joy. These are the scattered people of God: the blind and the lame, the mothers and pregnant women. They shall be led along an easy road so that no one will stumble. The Lord s kindness and mercy are on all these weak and broken people. Here and in Psalm 126 we find the most lovely poetic images of God s love and care for us. Those that sow in tears / shall reap rejoicing. Although they go forth weeping, / carrying the seed to be sown, / they shall come back rejoicing, / carrying their sheaves (Psalm 126:5 6). Although God had to punish Israel for their many sins, God never forgot them, scattered as they were, and brings them all back to the land of their ancestors, there to flourish and be joyful again. We can see in this the hope and the promise of our own redemption, gathered from the far corners of the earth into the great banquet of God. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. There were some in the discussion group who were not able to obtain the book by the time of the meeting, so we ll have another chat on the book when we meet. Educated is a current bestseller and the third bestseller we ve chosen this year we ve all but formally agreed to limit bestsellers to a maximum of two per year as sometimes they are difficult to obtain from the libraries. And, you can get a jump on our selection for December, The Lotus Eaters by Tajana Soli which takes place in Vietnam during the war. But come to our meeting, no matter what, for Christian fellowship and love of reading. ALL ARE WELCOME!!!!

All Souls Requiem Mass NOVEMBER 3, 2018 The All Souls Requiem Mass to honor our Holy Redeemer-St.

7 Celebrating Traditions HOLY REDEEMER AND ST. JAMES CATHOLIC COMMUNITY GETTING THROUGH THE HOLIDAYS Eleanor Spaziano, MSW, grief counselor offers a 9 week bereavement support group for those who have had a loved one die. The group provides ways to deal with getting through the holidays without your loved one. It starts each year in the fall, during the holidays to those experiencing grief and loss finishing after the new year. For further information, please contact Eleanor at espaz@att.net. All Souls Requiem Mass NOVEMBER 3, 2018 The All Souls Requiem Mass to honor our Holy Redeemer-St. James the Less Deceased Parishioners whom we lost this past year (November 2017 to October 2018), will be held Saturday, November 3rd at 4:00 pm at Holy Redeemer. Music for the All Souls Mass will be provided by our Holy Redeemer Choir, as well as invited singers, old and new. The focus will be on movements from Requiems by Faure and Mozart. In addition beautiful music by Mendelssohn and Rutter will dignify our remembrance of those gone before us. If your loved one was buried from Holy Redeemer or St. James the Less during this time period, or if you are still mourning the death of one close to you and wish to come to this Mass, please save the date and plan to attend. We are expecting a larger than normal attendance at this Vigil Mass, please plan to arrive as early as 2:45 pm to ensure you have time to find a seat, complete your remembrance card and light a candle for your loved one(s). Bereavement Ministers will be welcoming you as you enter and will give you a Program, Remembrance Card and a candle. ALL SOULS NOVENA OF MASSES November 2nd marks the Feast of All Souls, when we remember all of our faithful departed, especially the souls in Purgatory. You may still have your loved ones remembered in the Novena of Masses. Please complete an envelope available at the entrances of the Church and place them into any collection basket or turn them in at the office. Our Host Team and Boy Scouts will be available to assist you if you require help from the parking lot and into the church. Remember there is no handicap parking near the entrance to the Church. We will have reserved seating in front of Mary s Altar for those needing assistance as well as your family. There will be tables set up at Holy Redeemer and St. James for you to display a photograph of your loved one(s) starting October 27, Holy Redeemer tables will be located in the Divine Mercy Alcove; tables at St. James will be in front of St. Joseph s statue. You may display your photographs at either church or both. It would be nice if they were all displayed at Holy Redeemer for the Requiem Mass on November 3rd. Photographs will be displayed through November 30, Music will begin at 3:30 pm and the Deceased Parishioners names will be intoned at 4:00 pm, followed by the Requiem Mass. Please join us after Mass for a reception in the Gathering Area hosted by HR-SJ Bereavement Ministry and The Knights of Columbus. All are welcome.
