Anointing of the Sick Please feel free to call the parish office if you would like to have an Eucharistic home visit by one of our parish ministers of the sick. Communion for Sick and Homebound Parishioners Please call the parish offices if you would like to receive Communion we will make the arrangements with the Eucharistic Ministers to the Sick. If You Should Experience the Loss of a Loved One Please call the parish offices. If you feel you will be in need, or your loved one has passed, our Bereavement Ministers will assist in making with your chosen funeral directors and offer you helpful guidelines that will aid in the Liturgical planning of the Mass or Memorial Service. We know that this can be a tough time and we want you to know that your parish is there for you.

3 HOLY REDEEMER AND ST. JAMES CATHOLIC COMMUNITY A NOTE FROM OUR PASTOR Dear friends, I hope you were blessed to gather with family, good friends, good food and much love. Every human being deserves these things! And our Parish deserves good things too! Reminders to the many of you who heard from me last week on Stewardship Sunday: you must do your part to build up the Body of Christ here at HRSJ. The data from our parish reveals several things: More than 2/3 of those a ending a Mass at HRSJ are not consistently a ending nor financially suppor ng our parish. The 1/3 who are consistently financially suppor ng our parish are bearing the full load of ministry costs and maintenance costs and are doing all they can! (But I even asked them to help us keep up with infla on by increasing their dona ons by 3%!) Over the next five years the projected Maintenance costs for Roofing Systems, Hea ng/ven la on, Plumbing, Parking and Paving at Holy Redeemer & St. James will total: $923,959.00! Those who are not currently financially suppor ng our parish must take on this responsibility. It is not just for me to ask those, who are already doing what they can, to bear all this addi onal cost. To the 2/3 of you who a end but don t financially support our parish family, how exactly are you part of our family? To put it bluntly, you can t just take. Change your heart and give! On line Giving is the most reliable way to address this need, SIGN UP! As I prepare to hand on this parish to another Pastor next June, I want to be able to tell him the people here take care of their parish, they care, they do all they can. It s easy to understand today s scriptures as events that happened long ago and far away, or predictions that will come true somewhere, some day. But they invite us to claim Christ as our King here and now. Jesus words to Pilate in the Gospel remind us that his kingdom transcends time and place. And the prophecies from Daniel and Revelation give us reason to be faithful to Christ our King right here and right now. By concluding the year with this feast we are proclaiming our faith that Jesus Christ is the one and only King over all seasons, all peoples, and all of creation.
