When they all saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted. Then Jesus approached and said to them, "All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age." (Matthew 28: 16-20) By His Resurrection, Jesus has become Lord of heaven and earth. It is a cosmic power which he has received. Jesus then, in turn, transmits this power to the Church, and He changes the Church to manifest the life of the Trinity in its ministry and sacramental action. The Lord is not limited now to a single country as Christ the Man was. He is the New Man who presides over the new creation and moves the universe. He links His power with the universal mission of the Church: Go then To all nations. The Church s universal mission is carried out directly under the influence of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit acts in the heart of every man, leads him to encounter Christ, and inspires all the members of Christ s body to contribute to the task of salvation. The question we must ask ourselves is How do I contribute to proclaiming the gospel message and continue the task of salvation? 3 Parish Ministries Eucharistic Adoration Ushers Needed We are in desperate need of ushers at all Masses. Please consider this important ministry and help by serving as an usher at your Mass. If interested you may give your contact information to an usher or contact the parish office. Training will be provided. The Eucharist is the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ and He calls us to spend time with Him in prayer and adoration. Each month, we have a 24-hour Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament beginning on the first Monday of the month and a 12-hour Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on the third Tuesday of the month. We encourage you to consider spending some time with Christ, present in the Blessed Sacrament. Morning, afternoon, and evening time slots are available. Our next 24-hour adoration will be June 4-5 Our next 12-hour adoration will be June 12 (8:30 AM-8:30 PM) If you have questions regarding Adoration or would like to commit to a scheduled time as an adorer, please contact Maura Byron at or at 5byrons@cox.net. Evening Bible Study The Bible Plain and Simple Mondays/Thursdays 7:00 PM 8:30 PM Please join us on Monday or Thursday evening to read and study Romans. San Francisco Solano s Evening Bible Study is a multi-year course: The Bible Plain and Simple. Our mission is to discover the Bible systematically, verse-by-verse, Genesis through Revelation, utilizing a combination of audio and video taught by renowned literary scholar, Dr. Bill Creasy who has been called a Catholic Bible teacher extraordinaire! Our study of Romans has begun and will end this week. We will take a summer break in June and July and resume with a study of the Gospel of John the week of August 6. There is no cost. Like the evening Bible study groups, we follow the multi-year program by Dr. Bill Creasy to explore our Bible verse-by-verse. We have started our study on the Book of Romans. We will break for Summer on June 30 and resume our study on August 10. Typically, we study for minutes and review the questions at the end of each lesson. 4 Parish Ministries Children of Christ s Heart Children of Christ s Heart is partnering with Family Support Network of Orange County to facilitate a Parent-to-Parent Support Group meeting on the second Wednesday of each month. The group is intended for anyone offering care and support for a child or young adult with special needs. In addition to a spiritually based, emotionally supportive environment, we will offer presentations on topics of interest and assistance with IEPs, Regional Center, California Children s Services and CalOptima. Child care is not provided, but you are welcome to bring your child with you if you provide the supervision. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion Training If you wish to go to extremes, let it be in sweetness, patience, humility, and charity. St. Philip Neri There will be a training session for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion on Tuesday, June 5, at 7 PM in the church. If you are interested in serving our Lord as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at Mass, please attend this training. To be an EMHC, you must be 18 years old and have received the sacraments of Baptism, First Eucharist and Confirmation and, if married, be in a valid Catholic marriage. 6 Parish Ministries Knight of Columbus St. John Paul II Council Knights of Columbus has always been an organization dedicated to the well-being and support of Catholic family life. The family is the first and primary place we experience and are formed in our Catholic faith. By building upon our current programs and activities, the Knights of Columbus continues to promote the family as a domestic church where husbands and wives, parents and children, grow in their knowledge and practice of the Catholic faith. In order to perform its important mission of evangelization, each family needs to find support in the sacramental life of the parish. Through Catholic Information Service, your KofC council is providing FREE booklets for building the Domestic Church, our Catholic family. Topics include parenting, fatherhood. and family prayer life, as well as two of St. John Paul II s famous messages for the family: Letter to Families and The Family in the Modern World. You can find the kiosk in the Church Hall during the coffee and donut service after Mass. All parishioners are welcomed in helping our council in service of others. 7 Youth Faith Formation CLOW Volunteers Needed CLOW (Children's Liturgy of the Word) is a program designed to help children hear and discuss the Sunday Gospel at their own level. We NEED adults and teens to facilitate this program during the 8:30 AM and 10:15 AM Masses. No preparation or experience required.
