3 Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time November 11, 2018 Eucharistic Adoration Our celebration of the Eucharist, the Mass, is the source and the summit of our faith. As Catholics, we proclaim our belief that the bread and wine consecrated during Mass become Christ Himself--His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity- Holy Communion. Once consecrated, it is not merely a piece of bread or cup of wine. At San Francisco Solano church, Eucharistic Adoration with Exposition is available every Friday. On the first Friday of each month, Adoration takes place from 9 AM until 9 PM. All other Fridays of the month, Adoration takes place from 9 AM until 5 PM. As the morning Mass ends, the Blessed Sacrament is placed in a beautiful stand known as a monstrance on the main altar of the church, and Jesus Christ is exposed in the Blessed Sacrament for all to see. We must have committed worshippers scheduled at hourly intervals for visiting Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament to ensure that the Eucharist is never without veneration. There is an electronic sign-up on the parish website: Please prayerfully consider your availability to come to Adoration and spend time with Christ. You are welcome to come spend time in the presence of Christ even if you are not a scheduled adorer for as short or as long a time as you like. Any time you spend with Him is transforming. You are invited to explore this program, which has been described as a spa for your soul. Women's Circle is a peer ministry for adult women of all ages and stages of life, offering an opportunity to nurture your spirituality, deepen your faith, and build community. This season we will be using the book, Heaven Starts Now Becoming a Saint Day by Day, by Catholic Pastor and author Fr. John Riccardo. Fr. Riccardo helps us dive into the Scriptures so that we can apply them to our daily lives. In his inspiring and incisive way, Fr. Riccardo addresses the obstacles we all face in becoming mature disciples. How do we learn to forgive? How do we combat fear and understand suffering? How do we worship the Lord, love others as Christ loves us, and fully surrender our lives to God? Come join other women of the parish as we explore these questions. Together we can learn how to live as a reflection of Christ and see how Heaven can start now. Meetings are held on Tuesdays at 9:30-11:30 AM and are repeated at 6-8 PM. 4 Parish Ministries Evening Bible Study The Bible Plain and Simple Scripture plays a central role in our Catholic faith. The entire first half of Mass is the liturgy of the Word, with a homily applying the weekly scriptures to our lives. Yet, how many of us have actually read and studied the Bible and know what s in it? San Francisco Solano s Evening Bible Study is a multi-year course: The Bible Plain and Simple. Our mission is to discover the Bible systematically, verse-byverse, Genesis through Revelation, utilizing a combination of audio and video taught by renowned literary scholar, Dr. Bill Creasy, who has been called a Catholic Bible teacher extraordinaire! We are currently studying the Gospel of John. All attendees must register at the Logos Bible Study link: Come join us at any time for coffee and dessert as we study the Bible. Across the country, as winter approaches, thousands of children go without warm clothing. Through financial collections, this program provides new coats and jackets for children throughout the country. During our recent Coats for Kids collection, through the generosity of our parish community, we raised over $4,600, which we will use to provide coats and jackets for children in our parish and local community. 8 Around the Diocese 1 st Class Blood Relic of St. John Paul II Visits Orange County Santiago de Compostela Church in Lake Forest will have the honor of hosting a visit of Saint John Paul II First Class Blood Relic from November 16 th to the 20 th Catholics all over Orange County are welcome to come, pray and venerate in front of the saint s relic anytime from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM at the Parish Center. There will be a Welcome Mass, in Spanish, at 6:30 PM, when the relic arrives on Friday and in English at 8:00 AM on Saturday. Each day of the relic s visit will have an exposition, prayerful music, and silence. The Hour of Christ s Passion when Jesus died for the salvation of all is also remembered daily at 3:00 PM with special reflections and prayer to the Divine Mercy. St John Paul II was instrumental in bringing to the world the Divine Mercy message that was entrusted to St. Faustina. Please check Santiago de Compostela s website for an updated schedule. The relic, John Paul II s blood on a piece of cloth, was given to Joseph and Corinne MacDonald by Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz, the archbishop emeritus of Kraków and close adviser and friend of John Paul II. The MacDonalds are the founders of the John Paul II Project. As an apostolate, they will carry out the saint s legacy by traveling with the relic to America, bringing John Paul II to the people so the people can come to John Paul II. (JP2 project link The relic is venerated by touching the reliquary in which the blood relic of St. John Paul II is kept. By venerating, Catholics seek the saint s intercession, receive spiritual graces for their families and loved ones, and obtain the courage and spiritual strength to imitate his saintly life and persevere in their Christian witness to the Gospel. From the graces received in praying before the relic of St. John Paul II, the faithful and their families are renewed in their daily striving for holiness of life and in faith, hope, and charity. Schedule Change for Filipino Masses at St. Philip Benizi Church in Fullerton Filipino Masses are being celebrated at St. Philip Benizi. Due to conflicts with other First Saturday devotions, the Filipino Masses are now celebrated every second Saturday of the month at 7 PM. The address is 235 Pine Dr., Fullerton, CA. Please join us in fellowship with one another. Bring your families, particularly your children, to experience our Filipino heritage through the celebration of the Mass in Tagalog.
