But early in the morning he arrived again in the temple area, and all the people started coming to him, and he sat down and taught them. Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery and made her stand in the middle. They said to him, Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery. Now in the law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say? They said this to test him, so that they could have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and began to write on the ground with his finger. But when they continued asking him, he straightened up and said to them, Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her. Again he bent down and wrote on the ground. And in response, they went away one by one, beginning with the elders. So he was left alone with the woman before him. Then Jesus straightened up and said to her, Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you? She replied, No one, sir. Then Jesus said, Neither do I condemn you. Go, and from now on do not sin anymore. (John 8:1-11) The woman caught in adultery became a pawn in a legal game devised to trap Jesus. Not only did he outwit his opponents, he refused to treat this woman as an object. Jesus publicly spoke to her with respect and compassion, disregarding the accepted social protocol of the time. Jesus behavior is another striking instance of the "something new" God promised through the prophet Isaiah. Christ is the astonishing river of salvation, springing forth in the wastelands of human experience, restoring life to all who thirst. 2 Mass Intentions for the Week Monday 14 March 8:30 AM Flor Gonzales Beatrice Schmitz Tuesday 15 March 8:30 AM Mrs. Bishop Josefa Pilapil Michele Taylor Wednesday 16 March 8:30 AM Bernice Ashcraft David Wang Thursday 17 March 8:30 AM Marie Gentile Fred Storck Friday 18 March 8:30 AM Michael Avila Saturday, 19 March 8:30 AM Ronald Nestor 5:00 AM PRO POPULO Sunday 20 March 7:00 AM Ronald L. And God s grace was so powerfully at work in them all. Acts 4:32

4 Lent and Easter Schedule Holy Week and Easter 2016 Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, The Paschal Mystery is at the very heart of our Catholic faith. The word of Scripture and the life of Jesus culminate in this unique event. Every Eucharist is a memorial of His suffering, death and resurrection. Yet each year the Church sets aside this entire week to commemorate the profound realities of the first Holy Week. May your loving participation in the week s liturgies enable you to live more deeply the Life emptied on Calvary and risen on Easter Sunday. The growth of Christ s life in us, His Body, the Church, is the continuation of the Father s plan for all creation.
