On that weekend, you will find SVdP donation envelopes in your pew. We humbly ask you to please look into your hearts and fill the envelopes with a generous donation to help support your needy neighbors right here in our St. Philomena community. 100% of your donation will be used to provide rent, utilities, and food help to the needy who live within our parish boundaries. Our area has one of the highest poverty levels in the state, and those numbers are growing every day! The kids enjoyed coloring their nylon frisbees on Tuesday and then flying them on Friday. "Mrs. G" lead them in the bible study portion of the program with all the children learning God loves and forgives everyone and in the end God is VICTORY. The week ended with Mrs. Vizcarra leading a small musical performance to bring the week full circle. A special thank you to Angie Mendez, Stephanie Aritchita and Jennifer Duarte who worked to help me behind the scenes to put the week together; THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! 4 What a great response to our call for early registrations! As of this writing we have 128 students. We have so many registered 4 th graders ready to receive sacraments that we now have 3 fourth grade classes. What a great problem to have. God is good all of the time! We had a great turn-out for our teacher meeting. It turns out that we have some roles still needing to be filled. We need a second grade teacher, a third grade teacher, and two fourth grade teachers. Miss Mika is heading up the prayer team and working with students with special needs. Miss Mika needs three more parents to help with the prayer team. Miss Sophia Morella is our point person on the craft team and needs about four or five more parents. Please call the office or me at: holli@stphil.com to volunteer or ask questions. The parish office will be open until 7:00 pm every Wednesday, beginning July 5 until September 6, for registration. Legion of Mary Remember that in today s world, Christ has no feet but yours to seek His lost sheep. He has no voice but yours to tell them of His love. The Legion of Mary is here in Saint Philomena; won t you give this apostolate of love a try? Contact Delores Rybacki: /02/17 Page 4 Does your faith need a shot of Vitamin Eucharist? Do you spend enough time reading about and exercising Prayer? Do you spend enough time with our Lord Jesus? If you are unsure about how to develop a Catholic-inspired relationship with God our Father, come and learn methods to nurture one. The RCIA process brings new members into full relationship with the Trinity. It is also a chance to expand your faith, to brush up on things that you might have forgotten from your early Catholic education, or just to spend time with other members of the St. Philomena faith family and deepen your relationship with God and others. Classes will begin September 19, continuing every Tuesday in the Upper Conference Room from 7:00 8:30 pm. Cost of the class is $ Divine Mercy Chaplet All are welcome every Monday at 6pm in the Adoration Chapel to join in meditations, prayers, and the recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet. PRE-BAPTISM CLASSES Holy Mother Church strongly encourages parents to have their babies baptized within the first few weeks of life. The baptism preparation classes are normally offered the 2nd and 3rd Wednesdays of the month from 7:00 to 8:30pm in the Upper Conference Room in the parish office. The next classes for June will be on the 14th and 21st. Parents and godparents are required to attend.
