We had a good turn-out for the Spring campaign and are looking forward to even more participation this Fall. Your prayerful presence for a two hour block each week between 9 am to 3 pm is a visible sign of our belief that God is the author of all life. The location of the facility in Federal Way for Planned Parenthood is South 348 th just west of Pacific Hwy South on the south side of the street. We park in the Park and Ride just west of the facility. We pray, sing and support each other asking God to change the hearts of those considering abortion. 4 We have a great story to share. Miss Anna and her 19 first graders came to class last Monday night and 11 bulletins were turned in. That is 58%! That is just awesome! Let's see who else can wow us! On October 27th, the Faith Formation office is sponsoring a Movie Night with Disney Pixar's "Coco" Come and journey with Miguel as he learns about his the mysteries behind his families traditions and stories. The movie begins at 7:00p.m. In honor of All Saints Day, October 29 is our All Saints Day. Everyone, including catechists, can dress up as their favorite saint. Do not purchase anything special, rather use what you have in your home. Research your saint and bring a fun fact to share about your saint. Those who dress up will parade over to the parish hall to show the parents their "saintliness". 1st grader Juan Carlos Garrido Cazares took Jesus home for a week. Jesus went to church and when Juan Carlos felt lonely, Juan Carlos hugged Jesus. (P.S. Jesus is a plush figure) Knights of Columbus Corner Pancake Breakfast: WHEN: October 21st. It brings another dimension to understanding our relationship with God. When we can relate through laughter, it makes developing a relationship with God more real. Next week we will talk about original sin, The Sacrament of Baptism and the Rite of Baptism. Up next is the Sacrament of confirmation. Reconciliation Reconciliation preparation is full swing. Parents, please help your student learn the steps and the act of Contrition. We will be doing rehearsals on November 5th. Students with the last name that begins with a through M, your student will make their first confession on November 8th. If your last name begins with N through Z, your student will make their first confession on November 15, The Penance service will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. in the church. Catechist will be on hand beginning at 6:15 p.m. for last minute rehearsals. Eucharistic Adoration Parents of Religious Education Catechism Class enrollees, waiting for their children on Monday nights, are invited to join in adoration before our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. Experience the presence of Jesus through prayers, meditation and silence. He waits for us in the Adoration Chapel. Pre-Baptism Classes English Baptism classes are normally offered the 2nd and 3rd Wednesdays of the month from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the Upper Conference Room in the Parish Office. Both English classes must be attended. Next classes: Nov. 14th. and 21st. (English, 2 parts) No Español Octubre clase Noviembre 3rd. (Español, 1 parte) Parents and godparents are required to attend.

5 October 26th is the PEP Club s annual Autumn Fest. It will take place from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM in the Parish. There will be games for the students. Middle school students help out with various activities: 6th graders run the cakewalk; 7th graders run the face painting and temporary tattoo booth; and 8th graders help out in the haunted hallway. Students and their parents are encouraged to come in costumes. There will be prizes for the best costumes. The kitchen will be open thanks to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, so bring the family for dinner. There will be goodies, and candy for everyone. Admission is $2.00 per person and one to two non-perishable food items for the Food Bank. The Autumn Fest is usually one of the highlights of the school year! Bring your family and friends for this incredible evening. Wreath Sales are starting Mon., Oct. 29th!! This is the PEP Club s only fundraiser of the school year. The proceeds from this year s wreath sale will be part of the PEP Club operating budget that funds PEP Club activities. Once again we will be offering both 24 round traditional wreaths. 24 decorated wreaths and the stunning 30 crosses. These beautiful, fresh Christmas decorations are locally grown and hand-assembled at Rosso Nursery and each is adorned with pinecones and a red bow. Wreaths make wonderful hostess and corporate gifts and are great gifts for friends, family, neighbors, coworkers and other associates. The first delivery of wreaths is the week of Nov. 19th. Decorated wreaths will be available at the Holiday Bazaar on Sat., Nov. 17th. St. Philomena Parish Youth Ministry Dr. Steve Morissette- Youth Minister For all students in 6 th -9 th grade The St. Philomena Parish Youth Group is an opportunity for students in 6 th through 9 th grade to get together on a Sunday afternoon. The mission of our Youth Group is to provide the students with various events and activities that strengthen and deepen their relationship with God and with their peers. There is also an emphasis on service and the commitment to help others. We meet usually twice a month on Sundays from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Youth Group is for any St. Philomena Parish student in 6 th through 9 th grade. Oct 28 th (oween Party) Nov. 4 th (Preparing items for the upcoming Giving Tree Project) Nov. 18 th (Mass greeters for 8:30 AM/10:30 AM Masses and help Knights with breakfast; no afternoon class) Dec. 9 th (Christmas Party) Dec. 16 th - (Greeters at Mass and helping at Santa Breakfast) Jan. 20 th Feb. 10 th and Feb. 24 th March 10 th and March 24 th April 7 th, April 14 th (greeters at Mass and hosting coffee & donuts) May 5 th, Sat., May 11 th (sponsoring parish Grounds Clean-up), May 19 th (last one) Weekly Collection Recap Our budget is based on an expectation of $839, in collection donations for the fiscal year (July 18-June 19).
