4 Tomorrow night all classes will participate in the mandate Archdiocese of Seattle program of "Touching Safety." This program is about equipping your students with the words and actions needed in the event they are in an uncomfortable situation. Parents, you are welcome to sit in and observe. Remember to deliver the opt-out form if you are not attending. If you have any questions, please see Holli before class begins or contact Isabel or Kara in the office this week First Communion was absolutely beautiful. The children were so good and holy. Like Father Steve said, parents, it is up to you to make sure that this isn't their last communion. Classes will continue until May 14, ending with our Mary Celebration. Certificates and prayer awards will be given out at that time. Annual Crop Walk Des Moines area churches are walking on May 6th to raise money for the hungry. We provide spiritual formation and training in evangelization by Catholic home visitations. We call on the most disadvantaged part of our population: the unchurched, the elderly and the sick. 5 The baseball season will be here soon! The PEP Club is once again sponsoring our annual St. Philomena School Night at the Seattle Mariners, which will be held on Saturday, May 19th at 6:10 PM. Tickets are $15.00 per person. Get your family and friends together and have a fun night out at the ballgame. Flyers for the game are available on the school s website; tickets need to be purchased by May 1 st. Registration for the school year is now open! St. Philomena School offers a 4 year old prekindergarten program (child must be 4 by Aug. 31 st, 2018), a 5 year old kindergarten program (child must be 5 by Aug. 31 st, 2018) and 1 st through 8 th grades. We offer Catholic faith experiences; a strong moral, academic, and challenging curriculum, including specialist classes (music, PE, technology, library); a safe and nurturing environment; before & after school care (6:30 AM-6:00 PM); an extensive after school club program and the latest technology. Come and check us out!! Eucharistic Adoration in Easter Would you spend just one hour with Me? Our Adoration Chapel is open 24 hours a day for quiet reflection, prayer, sacred reading and recitation of the rosary. Please visit our Lord and give praise to Him. St. Philomena Parish Youth Ministry Dr. Steve Morissette- Youth Minister For all students in 6 th -9 th grade The St. Philomena Parish Youth Group is an opportunity for students in 6 th through 9 th grade to get together on a Sunday afternoon. The mission of our Youth Group is to provide the students with various events and activities that strengthen and deepen their relationship with God and with their peers. There is also an emphasis on service and the commitment to help others. We meet usually twice a month on Sundays from 3:00PM to 5:00PM. Youth Group is for any St. Philomena Parish student in 6 th through 9 th grade. Our next Youth Group is this Sunday, April 15th, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Please put Saturday, April 28th on your calendar as the Youth Group is sponsoring a Parish Clean Up Day. We will need help sprucing up our parish & school grounds. This will include picking up garbage, weeding, trimming, planting flowers and other odds & ends. It will be from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Please bring garden gloves, any garden tools you have and be ready to help out our parish!! There will be goodies and beverages for all volunteers.
