I thought it was wonderful, and expressed beautifully the kind of hospitality to which we as Christians might aspire. We extend a special welcome to those who are single, married, divorced, gay, filthy rich, dirt poor, que no hablan ingles. We extend a special welcome to those who are crying newborns, skinny as a rail, or could afford to lose a few pounds. We welcome you if you can sing like Andrea Bocelli, or can t carry a note in a bucket. You re welcome here if you re just browsing, just woke up, or just got out of jail. We don t care if you re more Catholic than the Pope, or haven t been in church since little Joey s baptism. We extend a special welcome to those who are over 60 but have not grown up yet, and to teenagers who are growing up too fast. We welcome soccer moms, NASCAR dads, starving artists, tree-huggers, latte sippers, vegetarians, junk food eaters. We welcome those who are in recovery or still addicted. We welcome you if you re having problems or you re down in the dumps or if you don t like organized religion. We ve been there, too. If you blew all your offering money at the dog track, you re welcome here. We offer a special welcome to those who think the earth is flat, work too hard, don t work, can t spell, or whose grandma is in town and wanted to go to church. We welcome those who are inked, pierced, or both. We offer a special welcome to those who could use a prayer right now, had religion shoved down their throat as a kid, or got lost in traffic and wound up here by mistake. 4 The Faith Formation office wishes all of our volunteers, parents and students a joyous and blessed Christmas Season. Don t forget to go to Church and practice your prayers. We will see all of you on our return, January 8,2018. Confirmation Confirmation classes will resume Sunday January 7, 2018 at 2:30pm. Parents, our off site retreat is January I will need a permission slip from every candidate. A letter went home explaining the retreat, address and telephone number, what to bring, what not to bring. St Philomena provides all the transportation, food, etc. Please encourage your child to leave the cell phones at home for the weekend. Parents and sponsors are invited to come to the retreat facility Saturday afternoon for mass at 4:30pm with dinner to follow. RSVP to me so I can make sure I have enough food. PRE-BAPTISM CLASSES Holy Mother Church strongly encourages parents to have their babies baptized within the first few weeks of life. The baptism preparation classes are normally offered the 2nd and 3rd Wednesdays of the month from 7:00 to 8:30pm in the Upper Conference Room in the Parish Office.
